Sudo(ers) distrobution system/script
Just wondering if anyone out there is using sudo across a bunch of
machines and has a system/script for painlessly distributing a master
sudoers file? is it as easy as a daily cronjob running wget/scp/rsync?

Having Trouble Creating an IVR
I have asterisk 1.0.5 installed via apt on a debian system. It's a
custom distrobution called Voyage Linux that runs from a flash card
and I have a hard drive installed with mysql installed on it as well
as apache. I have been though the AMP install guide (asterisk
management portal) and in the interface it has a place for me to
record new IVR menus. I have to dial *77 to begin recording

Good to know that this is expected behavior. However, some sort of
indication that the initramfs

[fdo] Linux with Graphics and Sound
...you like. Freedesktop.org is working to get X11, Gnome, and KDE and
others on the same page, perhaps the can be done for Alsa, Jack and OpenGL.
I believe more can be done distrobution wise. There are only a few GPU
manufactures remaining, so why couldn't full OpenGL drivers be included
with distrobutions?
I would like to see one place to put software. Fedora/Redhat and
Mandrake are working on common RPMs. I hope they suceed.
[My usr folder is riddled with different directory systems and
schemes for installing software.]
The aim of my word was provocative, not insulting. Thank you for all yo...

everything according to the various HOWTOS and FAQ's and other pieces of
Documentation I have read. Starcraft & Starcraft Broodwar installed with no

Heimdal or MIT kerberos comparison
What is the difference between Heimdal and MIT as far usability goes?
MIT seems to be the default on major linux distrobutions, but I here a
lot about people preferring Heimdal, but I can't find any reasons why.
Is one generally more stable/faster/reliable than the other?
There is already a blank wiki page at
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_%26_Kerberos so if anyone has any
good information, I'll put it t...

Legal issues for non-profit radio stations.
Of course we all know these groups would certainly not appreciate the
audible distrobution of their bread and butter. However, I assume your

governed a right to freedom of information in regards to online

Re: The single major remaining Wine complaint everyone makes...
my thought is that the people that are complaining that the buttons and look of programs running in wine are the same ones that allow Microsoft to keep working on their GUI and not focusing on the kernel of their operating systems (anyone remember the talking paperclip in MSoffice?) They're worried about how pretty everythign is and not how it performs. hence the reason that Vista and xp never

cd drive not found
By reading messages on this list, I think that I have figured out that
in gnome, you should be able to find directories like media/floppy
jerry@linux-8ldg:/media> dir
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 48 2006-08-18 20:18 floppy
Since the only sub directory I have in the media directory is floppy,
does this mean that I have not configured the computer correctly? I
cannot get to the cd drive

Really depends on how, distrobution and application. If you have a openvz kernel not that hard just bulky. With a openvz kernel you just install both versions of Linux.
Linux kernel has binary compatibility with applications. Its the .so files above it that give nice fun issues.

Where did you get the Syslinux source? Could you try with the latest
from Arch Linux [testing], just in case?
FWIW, the Syslinux archives in kernel.org already contain binary
files. Using official files without re-compiling might help find out
if perhaps there is some build problem.

Kolmogorov-Smirnoff test
I am trying to determine whether two samples are identical or not. I'm
aware that somebody can use the Kolmogorov-Smirnoff test to compare
empirical distributions, but since my samples have ties I'm not sure if
I'm getting the right p-values for the comparison. Can the
Kolmogorov-Smirnoff test be adjusted for the case when ties exists and
are there any functions that already

Large (3000+ users) NT to Samba migration
Hi guys and girls,
A client of mine is seriously investigating migrating their 7 NT servers and
3000+ users to Linux running Samba.
I've read one or two documents so far about the migration, but I'm still a
little unclear about a number of things.
When you have a chance I'd really appreciate your guidance on the following
items.
1.) LDAP, /etc/passwd or MySQL backend (if supported).

Booting with Syslinux 6.01 & 6.02 fails, causes restart.
Hi there.
I had a quick look through the archives, and I spotted a similar issue
being reported in October, but no resolution, unfortunately.
"[syslinux] Syslinux 6.02 BIOS"
I am booting in legacy (bios) mode on a gpt partition on my laptop.
It's a HP ENVY dv7.
CPU: Intel i7,
BIOS: InsydeH2O
version: F. 12
With syslinux 4.06, it boots flawlessly.
With syslinux 6.01 and 6.02, the
