how to generate a random data from a empirical distribition
...lows, normal, beta?). My ultimate goal is to
generate addition 20,000 data point from this empirical distribution created
from the existing 10,000 data points.
thank you all in advance.

Using win-builder with static libraries
Dear All,
I am intending to build a package (pksmooth) on Linux to work on
Windows. Some c++ functions need c++ libraries (numerical recipes)
from a static library "libNR.a".
Building the package on Linux for Linux is allright. However, when
sending the 'pksmooth_1.0.tar.gz' to the online Windows builder
(win-builder.r-project.org),the compilation doesn't take into account

Why not pulseaudio?
...other for output works great! Without time offset between devices! This proves that wine with pulseaudio works really great (similar to asio4all on windows), and is only one patch away!
So, for my home recording I will of course use pulse (jack didn'n work at all on 3 machines with 4 different distribitions including ubuntustudio during several years, meanwhile the most recent version works on one kubuntu machine after days of configuring but recognizes only 2 of 6 outputs, so won't anyone tell me to use this crap!)
Pulse is also the only way to get sound from all outputs of my soundblaster audi...

R with MKL
Hi,
I have seen a lot of problems from people trying to compile R with
MKL. So I am writing my experience in case it helps and to ask one
question. I installed R-2.8.1.patched in Ubuntu 9.04 (gcc 4.3.3) using
MKL 10.1.1.019.
I configured correctly (following MKL userguide) with :
sudo ./configure --with-blas="-I/opt/intel/mkl/10.1.1.019/include
-L/opt/intel/mkl/10.1.1.019/lib/em64t
