assign a constant to a different column for each row

coefs.i <- coefs[] == 1;
coefs[coefs.i] <- 0;
wich results in
"matrix subscripts not allowed in replacement"
error message, for wich I have not found any workaround
a trivial for() loop is not fast enough
any help would be greatly appreciated, (maybe a gun too) I'm disperated :-\

FreeBSD doesn't find my CD-RW and sometimes my DVD

I've recently installed FreeBSD 4.8 ,and all at the first look was ok ,
this was only a try in a small partition , and now I have decided to
install it in a bigger partition , so I've downloaded the 5.1 ISO (to
give it a try too) and I've tried to BURN it with "burncd" . N...

help w/ nonlinear regression
Dear All,
I'd like to fit a "kind" of logistic model to small data-set using nonlinear least-squares regression. A transcript of R-script are reproduced below. Estimated B and T (the model's coeff, herein B=-8,50 and T=5,46) seem appropriate (at least visually) but are quite diff from those obtained w/ SPSS (Levenberg-Marquardt): B=-19,56 and T=2,37. Am I doing something wrong in
