quota calculating
Hey everyone,
Currently where I work we use qmail. Every time a message is delivered,
qmail seems to walk through the user's entire maildir in order to
calculate quota usage. Delivering messages simultaneously to just a few
users who are allowed large maildirs (1-2GB) will bring our servers to
their knees. Which brings me to dovecot. I use dovecot whereever I can,
but haven't yet

pointers for using CentOS box as filter for children
...e?
i realize this is a generalized question and that iptables and many other
things exist that could be implemented.
im looking for a way to give the youngster the benefit of the doubt and
allow them to "obey God/parents" first before they have to be totally
restricted after having been disobedient.
specifically we could do it two ways.
one is, that which is not expressly permitted is denied... and i would
prefer not to have to do it that way. it is too easy and may not allow for
the child to choose to be obedient to God/parents.
the other seems like it might be better, that which is not e...

Users of ballooning, please come forth!
...ons [3].
I think we're headed to the same destination here; the variant which I
came up with (and suggested to Daniel and Luiz, CC'd) is similar: the
guest self-balloons, giving up pages when it can, but the host sets a
ceiling.
This way, if the host really needs to set a limit, it can: a disobedient
guest will start paging. But generally, a guest should use its
judgement to balloon its own pages as it can (below the ceiling).
Thoughts?
Rusty.

It sounds similar but it sounds like you are suggesting one limit
value and I am suggesting two. Your ceiling value sounds like a soft
limit on total guest mem...

W9x print driver download problems with Samba 2.2.3a and CUPS
I've set up Samba and CUPS on our testing server here, and used
smbcupsadd to upload the Adobe PS drivers to the server as directed in
the HOWTO (The CUPS and Samba HOWTOs differ on this point, by the way -
the latter claims that PSMON.DLL is needed in addition to the eight
other files. I played it safe and had it upload that, too).
With the caveat that I first have to connect to each printer

[PATCH 1/2] lguest: handle dodgy/non-existent TSC. Host code.
...rently requires a TSC, which breaks older machines and Matt
Mackall who boots the host with "notsc". In addition, there is no
good solution to changing TSC speeds (informing all the guests about
the TSC impending change before it happens would be a great deal of
code and have issues with disobedient guests).
This patch makes the host determine if the TSC is both constant and
stable: if not, it doesn't tell the guest to use it. We export
check_tsc_unstable() for this.

Users of ballooning, please come forth!
Hi all!
We're debating the design of the balloon for the OASIS spec.
Noone likes the current one, but there are fundamental usage pattern
questions which we're fumbling with.
So if you know anyone who is using it in production? If, so, how? In
particular, would you be happy with guests simply giving the host back
whatever memory they can spare (as Xen's self-balloon does)?

[LLVMdev] Debugger support
Hi all,
I am just curious to know when will the llvm-db be released. I hope I
am posting in the right forum. In the latest release 2.2, the llvm-db
binary doesn't appear to load the symbol table or debug the bytecode.
It spits out a message saying that this feature is still not
implemented.
Thanks & Regards,
-Lokesh

big file server
Hi
I plan to set up a big file server, something like motherboard with 4 ide
ports and an additional 4 ide daughter card, a PIV proc and 512 or 1024 MB
ram, a 100 or 1000 MB NIC, with 6 or 7 200 GB ide HDDs in a sigle box. I
don't need lightning performance, just disk space. Of course this would be
served by some linux os and samba
questions (relative to samba configuration and behaviour) :
