su/sudo using ssh auth
To the openssh and sudo developer mailing lists:
Ssh has a key agent allowing authentication to remote hosts without
entering your password/passphrase again and again, which is very
convenient. I think the 'su', 'sudo', and similiar commands could benefit
from this idea and mechanism. I don't have the necessary expertise in
cryptology to do this myself so I just want to throw

IAX2 Trunking, No connections any more...
Hello!
I have bin trying to set up trunking between some of my Asterisk
boxes but had no luck...
I use Asterisk 2.0.6 on SuSE 6.2, but I have had the same problem with
erlier releases. I have a working connection and can place
multiple calls in both direktions. Than I set "trunk=yes" on
both sides and reload. "CLI> iax2 show peers" shows a (T)

Compiling Samba 2.2.5 on Tru64 UNIX
Hello users,
I'm new to this list, so forgive me if this has been diskussed before.
I'm trying to compile samba 2.2.5 on a Alpha box with Tru64UNIX v4.0f patchkit

The config line is:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/opt/samba --exec-pre...

remember ...
is.vector() of an one-dimensional array returns FALSE. this is also the
behavior of Splus, but totally counter-intuitive for me ... IMO an
array of dimension 1 is exactly the definition of a vector ...
it also breaks our current plot.factor, whic...

managing users from smbpasswd rather than /etc/passwd
I have samba installed on a web server (behind a firewall). It's working
fine with all the WINS networking here (eg, password authentication from
the NT servers, etc).
I (we) want this web server - a linux redhat 5.x box currently running
samba-1.9.18p8 - to have as few actual unix login accounts as possible.
What I want/need to do is to allow LOTS of people in the faculty here

duplicated file removal: call for comment
This is a call for comments, regarding what you do expect when copying
multible source tree roots leading to the same directory root, using
rsync.
This problem may be discussed now, because in versions before
rsync-2.5.6, the algorithm for removing the so called "duplicated files"
was broken.
That's why we expect nobody used it anyway in earlier versions - but who
knows..
Example:
