memtest86 problem
Hi!
At first thanks for your great work!
I started to make multiboot CDs 1,5 years ago, with Bart Lagerweij 's utils. I have a problem with the memtest86 floppy image, made by the authors in the .zip file, downloadable from it's homepage, when I use diskemu. Some days ago I found on Bart's page a new method to select boot images on CD with syslinux/isolinux/memdisk. I thought this is my solution! With LiLo I could start the memtest86 image from hardisk, but with diskemu I couldn't. The error number was 8000, and now it's the same when I tr...

alternatives to memdisk for use with pxelinux?
...ing this question as it is in part off topic,
but I have searched extensively with little results.
Are there any alternatives to memdisk for use with pxelinux for booting
troublesome floppy images with such applications that fail to use INT 15h,
AX=E820h.
Having spent some time experimenting with diskemu's diskem1x.bin and
cdshell's implementation of diskemu as a module for use with bootable
cdroms, I have seen memdisk and diskemu work from a common loader as
alternative kernels for booting floppy images (for use with bootable
cd-rom).
Is anybody aware of a diskemu kernel or alternative ke...

A Little Problem with the new Isolinux
...ate a bootable CD, the I-Loader.bin starts the Isolinux.bin, because I don?t like use mkisofs.
Isolinux can start an Disketten Image, but not an Eltorito Image like Windos 2000 Cd?s.
The error Message is "Invalid or corrupt Kernel Image"
WAY? I know, that the file is not corrupt. Bart?s Diskemu can start it correctly.
The Text are in the isolinux.cfg is:

label b
kernel memdisk

RE: Bootitng and CDShell...
Hello,
Can anyone help me?
Does any of you manage to load (boot) Bootitng through CDShell?
How can I ensure that diskemu emulates a 1.44MB floppy?
Any ideas?
Thank you

Isolinux doesn't boot
...- CDs with "Smart
Boot" then it works. But I think that using a floppy to load a bootcd which is
(in my case) there to replace my boot floppy collection isn't really nice.
Is there a workaround? (I tried also the i-loader from bootscriptor and
loading the isolinux.bin with bart's diskemu, none of them worked)

Memdisk and Grub
Hello,
i was getting into problems when booting a GRUB bootdisk with memdisk. I
get the menu of GRUB, but when i change something to boot (e.g. Redhat
installation tool) System freezes after uncompressing kernel.
I used either syslinux version of Boot Scriptor and latest standalone
version from kernel.org.
I hope you are able to give me a clue what is wrong.
Thanks in advance.

syslinux/isolinux capabilities
I'm wondering if it's possible to use isolinux on a bootable CDR to boot an
ISO9660 disk image off of the CDR's filesystem. I'm trying to make a multi-boot
CD which is capable of booting both floppy images and smaller ISO9660 images
(such as the debian netinst or DSL - damnsmall linux), and I am wondering if
isolinux is capable of doing this (or something similar to this -

isolinux - memdisk - thanks!
Hi Peter,
You did a great job on the isolinux and memdisk tools..
I can know, I've also written a CD-Rom disk emulator, only it's slow (read
from the CD) uses 22KB conventional memory (mainly cache) and the emulated
floppy image cannot be written to. http://www.nu2.nu/diskemu/
You're memdisk is fast, small conventional memory footprint and the emulated
drive is writeable, very, very, cool!!!
I (together with someone else) have written a real-mode Dos CD-Rom driver
"eltorito.sys" (only 4KB) that supports a bootable CD-Rom drive in "no
emulation"...

Boot Scriptor, companion to Isolinux.
...apabilities Isolinux has to offer. It also expands on the feature set
of Isolinux to allow more complex boot scenarios, and supports a simple
scripting language which enables the CD designer to implement custom
boot methods. It is based heavily on concepts pioneered by Bart
Lagerweij in his program Diskemu.
Boot Scriptor is free for non-commercial use."
If you'd like to try this program or learn more about it, I invite you
to visit the website, http://www.bootscriptor.org. The project is
tracked on Freshmeat.net, so if you'd like to be notified of new
releases as they're made yo...

isolinux.cfg on my bootable CD (Win)
...-hide trans.tbl -hide-joliet trans.tbl
when I select 5 (kernel isolinux.bin winme.img) I got:
COMBOOT image too large
when I select 6 (kernel winme.img) I got:
Cannot load disk image
How can I "tells isolinux to use your BIOS's built-in emulator to boot
the disk" ?
Or how can I use Diskemu with Multiple boot images (isolinux/memdisk) ?
Thanks.

ISOLINUX help requested (checksum error)
Hi Mr Anvin,
after downloading the Freedos bootable cd, which now uses your projects
(ISOLINUX & MEMDISK) instead of Bart Lagerweij's DISKEMU (www.nu2.nu), I
contacted the creator of the freedos cdrom. I was interested in how he did
make that cd bootable.
Now I understand it a bit.
As I'm a MS Windows user, I had to figure some things out.
However, upon booting I get a beautiful message:
"isolinux 1.72 2002-04-23: isolinux: i...
