a more specific question about qda
Perhaps, I should complement my previous e-mail question:
I am trying to select variables through a quadratic discriminant analysis.
It seems to me that a robust criterion is the value of the discriminatory
power
(i.e. the ratio of the separation of the class means to within-class
variance)
How can I obtain this ratio from V & R's qda() output ?
Thanks
(I hope this question is relevant)

Analysis of the Microsoft Settlement from a Samba perspective.
The Samba Team would welcome Microsoft documenting its proprietary server
protocols. Unfortunately this isn't what the settlement stipulates. The settlement
states :
"E. Starting nine months after the submission of this proposed Final Judgment to
the Court, Microsoft shall make available for use by third parties, for the sole

Mutually assured minefields.
The specific standards process used to develop the MPEG codecs
creates patent minefields that royalty-free codecs don't generally
face. Because many knowledgeable people have heard of the problems
faced by these patent-soup standards, they may extrapolate these risk
to codecs developed under a different process where these problems
are less considerable. This is a mistake, and I'll explain

Automated Binning for building predictive models
Hello,
Currently I am using R for building a logistic model using numerical and nominal data as predictors. Before doing the regression, the predictors are grouped. The groups I determine manually by trying to maximize the information value (which is an indicator for the discriminatory power of the variable) under the condition that enough data are within each group (approx. 5%).
Is there a

In the aftermath of trying to register for Astricon, I've been still

RFC: Second draft of an LLVM Community Code of Conduct
Greetings all,
First off, thanks to everyone who contributed to the initial discussion
thread. Judging by the responses from that thread, there seems to pretty
broad interest in pursuing this. There also seem to be a few concerns. =]
I'm including an updated draft based on the feedback, and I'll also try to
break down the major points I've seen of discussion. Sorry for the long
email,

[PATCH] Support for Ambisonics
Since the opusenc and opusinfo changes were independent I split them
up and landed the opusinfo changes (with updated mapping family
numbers).

[PATCH] Support for Ambisonics
Hi Drew,
Sorry for the delay.
FYI the patch that you attached is not your latest version. This
thread that you replied to is an older thread; the latest version is
on a different thread.
The patch does not use the mapping family numbers used by libopus and
libopusenc; could you update it to use family 2 and 3 rather than 254
and 253?
The patch also appears to break encoding of surround files
