NIS failover
We just updated our configuratiosn to have multiple NIS servers, when we
initiated a test of client failover, we were disapointed.
It seemed that the only way to get a filaover was to /etc/init.d/ypbind restart.
It behaves as indicated in
http://bugs.opensolaris.org/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=5084845 using
ypbind-1.17.2-13 on Centos 4.5 / Linux xxxxxxxxxxxx 2.6.9-55.0.12.ELsmp #1 SMP

Using custom QEMU binaries with libvirt
Hi all,
I compiled a custom version of QEMU 2.0.0 and I am having hard times to
make it available to libvirt. Just to clarify, if I execute
/usr/local/bin/qemu-system-x86_64
it does performs good. But when I put this very same path to <emulator>
tag in a domain configutation, when i start the domain I get
error: Failed to start domain vm1

Questions about version 1.1.1 from an intensive end-user
Hi,
I 'm happy when I see that version 1.1.1 has been released, but
disapointed too by the fact that the setup has not been updated onto the

"SMB3" is mostly marketing, it inherits almost everything from SMB2 hence
why it's often handled by SMB2 code. You will see this in Samba,
Wireshark, Linux, and even Microsoft specification "MS-SMB2" which
actually covers both

Are you experienced in SAS and R as well? Which of these would you recommend?
Hello!
Disapointed about SPSS I have to choose another statistic program. And altough I sympathise with the idea of a non-commercial software-project like R and I like the spirit of the R community (and of course I am not keen on paying 150$ to SAS for a one-year students license), I will probably buy SAS, because people I will work with use SAS and I want a close cooperation with them. Besides I

Manual creation of machine trust and comments on Samba books
I just receive a copy of the official samba 3 howto, to be honest i'm rather disapoint with the content and layout. Well with free online version, i can't complaint, but with 'paid' version maybe i can complain to the author :-).
Most of the contents are still the old documentation with few 'little' updation for samba3. Imo, its better if it can be rewrite from scratch

Samba 4
Hello,
this is the first time I write to the samba list and I hope my question
is not off topic.
I want to set up a samba server to replace an Active Directory for my
Windows workstations.
So far, I have a LINUX network that works perfectly, all my users are
stored in a LDAP server and their authentication is done against a MIT
Kerberos server. Hence all users have a valid kerberos ticket

disappointed with group
Hi all,
must say I have found the help in this group very disapointing. Have
mail numerous times for help with some (in hindsight) simple problems.
yet no one (ok 1 person) has attempted to aid me.
If this group was ONLY filled with novices and users I could accept this
but I have seen members of the development team , and others who have
insight into the workings of icecast comment on other

I finally got Solaris to successfully make asterisk, using these

Icecast 2: planned stuff.
Hi there.
I had a look at how icecast 2 works after having been pleased by how
icecast 1 worked.
I succesfully made it work on a debian woody (for those interested at
how i did it http://melmoth.dyndns.org/stream/ It's in french yet).
I was however disapointed a bit by not finding the admin console I used
to find in icecast 1.
So, several questions: is this admin console planned to be

Specific DllOverrides won't work...
Hi all,
I recently succeed using on of my apps under Wine. But with the config,
I meet a problem : I can't have both IE and my app workig, due to the
use of native comctl32.dll and commctrl.dll.
I wanted to specify this only for my app, as others won't work if I set
it as global DllOverride.
So here is what I did :

VisualDSP++ with enabled BFIN_ASM
Hi
I'm trying to integrate your speex codec on our custom Blackfin board and without uCLinux. I am using ADI-supplied VisualDSP++ IDE and corresponding toolchain. My question is: Is there anybody who ported speex with enabled BFIN_ASM to VisualDSP++ ?
Best Regards,
Stefan Voss

I don't understand why people keep complaining about this list. It's not
that anyone has the right to get personal assistance by the developers
(note: I am no developer). It's also better for all of us when the
developers don't have to waste their time on this list for minor/simple
things, imo.

We finally got icecast/ices streaming audio for 6 venues in Austin here
for SXSW. We are streaming wirelessly and that gave us a fit at the outset.
Anyway, the url is http://sxsw.com/music/livestreams

Icecast problems
Hi, I've just installed Icecast and can't start it...
Ok, I have Red Hat linux 9.0
I've downloaded icecast-2.2.0.tar.gz file... I've installed it using:
.configure
make
make install
Next I've edited - /usr/local/etc/icecast.xml
then I type the command: icecast - c /usr/local/etc/icecast.xml
and I recieve this message:
"ERROR: You should not run icecast2 as root
