Xwindow: unable to connect to display in CR 6.8
Hello everyone,
I just installed the CentOS 6.8 updates from the CR repository,
and then I rebooted the server. I run some software to make weather
images on a website, and I have run into a problem. When I do it, the
software, as it tries to plot the image, says:
Xwindow: unable to connect to display
It just stopped working when I did the updates. Has anyone else seen this,
or have an idea on

Issue getting Gnome display manager on Centos 6 to Xming on Win7
...r not switch to
something like X2Go as I wasn't too keen on it when I last tried it.
I have done plenty of research on the web that describes how to do this, but
I must be missing something. I have the following things configured on the
CentOS 6 box.
/etc/gdm/custom.conf file
[security]
DisallowTCP=false
AllowRemoteRoot=true
[xdmcp]
Enable=true
/etc/ssh/sshd_config
X11Forwarding yes
X11DisplayOffset 10
X11UseLocalHost yes
I start Xming on the Win7 box with the basic parameters. Xming.exe
:0 -resize -clipboard (one window is default)
Putty has X11 Forwarding enabled.
After logg...

Xwindow: unable to connect to display in CR 6.8
...tual frame buffers (Xvfb). When I do xhost +
> servername , it says it has been added to the control list...but it still
> doesn't fix the issue. Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong?
Also, doing an "xhost +" does not help, either, and in
/etc/gdm/custom.conf, I have:
DisallowTCP=false
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Can not get remote X connections to work on CentOS 4.1
I've encountered a strange problem in CentOS 4.1. I've never had this
problem before, and I've been using X Windows since 1990, but I can't
get remote X connections to work:
$ hostname
host00
$ echo $DISPLAY
:0.0
$ xhost +
access control disabled, clients can connect from any host
$ rsh host01
$ xdpyinfo -d host00:0.0
xdpyinfo: unable to open display

CentOS 6 and XDMCP
...nest like this:
> ssh -X -C -l $LOGINUSER $HOST -n "Xnest :1 -ac -geometry 1440x850
> -once -query localhost
I get a black screen without any login window or desktop background.
My /etc/gdm/custom.conf looks like this:
> # GDM configuration storage
> [daemon]
> [security]
> DisallowTCP=false
> AllowRemoteRoot=true
> [xdmcp]
> Enable=true
> [greeter]
> IncludeAll=true
> [chooser]
> [debug]
According to the howtos on the net this should be sufficient, so I am
quite stuck. How can I figure out if this is a problem of the CentOS
config or of XQuartz?
Any hint...

xhost + via Desktop centos 6.3 not working
Hello list,
In the past we have instructed users to perform 'xhost +' from their centos desktop, then set the DISPLAY variable on a remote computer to forward their display back to the desktop. This does not seem to work on centos 6 - but it did work in centos 5. It works from a vnc session on the desktop machine, but does not work from the local desktop.
We would typically use a display

X-Windows client for MS-Win2K
An intermittent need to connect to a CentOS4 development box from a
MS-Win2K workstation using X-Windows has developed here. However,
I cannot seem to find a cheap (read free) X-windows client for MS-
Windows to accommodate this. This seems very odd to me, displaying
no doubt my profound ignorance of the issues involved. The few
shareware versions that I have located expect registration

centos6 not using /etc/gdm/custom.conf
In CentOS5 you were able to create a server section in /etc/gdm/custom.conf such as
[server-Standard]
name=Standard server
command=/usr/bin/Xorg -br -audit 4 -s 15
chooser=false
handled=true
flexible=true
priority=0
After this change, Xorg would run with the -br -audit 4 -s 15 options.
Unfortunately in CentOS6 this is not the case. It completely ignores anything put into custom.conf as far

Unable to Configure Xen Dom 0 in Jeremy''s PVOPS Kernel
Hi All,
I followed the instructions here at
http://bderzhavets.wordpress.com/2009/06/10/setup-fedora-11-pv-domu-at-xen-3-4-1-dom0-kernel-2-6-30-rc6-tip-on-top-of-fedora-11/
However, when I do a "make menuconfig", I cannot see any XEN related
configuration options. What am I missing?
Thank you.
