Folding Samba into existing PAM_LDAP?
I have the same question, I've got an existing openldap sever running
with posixAccount users for linux pam/nss auth working OK .
How can I enter smbpasswd users information to the existing Ldap
database (just add the sambaSamAccount information needed for a PDC base
on Ldap auth) !? Idealx scripts creates a whole dedicated Ldap database
:-( .

Question !!!
Hi, before my situation: I have a samba server like a domain server for my subnet(win2k). I need limit the access to this domain for certain users on certains machine. For example, Bob olny cant work on \\casiopea and he can?t work on \\orion
How i cant do it that !?
I try to put in the netlogon section the line that may me to do it that, but really, it don?t work:
i test the file smb.conf, and

Samba, OpenLDAP, numeric logins and vampire
...m now at the stage
where I have an LDAP server running and have created all of the NT domain
groups in the LDAP directory.
I have successfully created numeric id accounts in LDAP and an attempt to
Vampire the accounts from the old NT4 PDC to the Samba PDC resulted in all
the users appearing in directory_administrator but no Samba logins working as
the XP clients reported that the accounts didn't exist on the server. Running
pdbedit -Lw showed only about 5 accounts so I'm guessing there's a problem
somewhere along the lines.
My question is therefore, is Vampire going to work in a situation where...

Large (3000+ users) NT to Samba migration
Hi guys and girls,
A client of mine is seriously investigating migrating their 7 NT servers and
3000+ users to Linux running Samba.
I've read one or two documents so far about the migration, but I'm still a
little unclear about a number of things.
When you have a chance I'd really appreciate your guidance on the following
items.
1.) LDAP, /etc/passwd or MySQL backend (if supported).
