samba & browse.dat file location
...to use one /var/cache/samba/browse.dat file.
start smbd&nmbd with option --lockdir=/var/cache/samba/domainname/ not
helped.
with --lockdir i`m see files:
brlock.tdb gencache.tdb messages.tdb sessionid.tdb
connections.tdb locking.tdb printing share_info.tdb
in separate domains directorues, but browse.dat is single in
/var/cache/samba

best practice backup
Hi there,
I am using tar to backup the whole system (specific directorues usr,lib,sbin,etc,var,home,root).
On bare metal recovery I install the minimal portion of the syetm and then I throw the tarballs.
Any opinions?

Cannot mount samba shares
Hi,
quick(?) question: Has anybody seen that problem below? More important
question: Did anybody solve that?
This is my smb.conf (well, only the most important parts):
[global]
workgroup = FOOBAR
server string = My Server
map to guest = Bad User
preferred master = No
local master = No
domain master = No
dns proxy = No
[on3]

Still stuck with Samba on Solaris 10
I was hoping someone could post, or point me to, a clear set of instructions
for compiling Samba 3.5.3 (or even 3.4.8) on Solaris 10. Or even just
confirmation that Solaris 3.5.3 really can compile on Solaris 10 with active
directory, nsswitch and zfs support. (I notice that Samba and Blastwave
versions of Samba 3.4.x do not include zfs and nsswitch support.)

When I run smbclient
1. smbclient //LINUX01//homes -U test
password is requested, I enter the password, and I get in
2. smbclient //LINUX01//homes -U Jane
password is requested, I enter the password, and I cannot
get in
(ERRSV - ERRbadpw (Bad Password - name/password pair in a
Tree Connect
or Session Setup are invalid)

connect to it - wait about 2 minutes and then get 'network is busy' message.
I suspect that my problems may lie somewhere in the multiple domains /
subnetting areas, but I can't see where.
Any comments will be welcome. TIA
