NVDIMM sizes and DIMM hot plug
Hi, I've found out that NVDIMM size and label size matter for regular (non-NV) DIMM hot plug. If the NVDIMM is not aligned correctly, the guest OS will not accept the hot plugged memory and will complain with messages such as Block size [0x8000000] unaligned hotplug range: start 0x225000000, size 0x10000000 The start address above is also reported within <memory> element of the hot

Intel SE7210TP1-E giving memory errors
Hi List, I've been getting the following EDAC memory errors EDAC MC0: CE page 0xeb0dd, offset 0x0, grain 4096, syndrome 0x45, row 3, channel 0, label "": i82875p CE and from this seeing that these errors have been corrected. Checking cat /sys/devices/system/edac/mc/mc0/csrow3/ch0_ce_count gives me a count of 4 thus I now know that csrow3 - ch0 is the problem My question is, how

DIMM problem
Hey, folks, I've got an HP Proliant DL580 G5 throwing ECC errors. This is annoying, since a) it's all new as of a few months ago, and b) it's *fully* populated. The two things I need to figure out are a) *which* DIMM it is, and b) is it mirrored; if so, which *other* DIMM needs to come out until we get replacements from the OEM. Here's one of many, all identical, from dmesg:

Memory problems with CentOS box
Hello all I am running CentOS 5 on a small server and I am having very strange memory malfunctions. The computer runs perfectly with no problems whatsoever. From time to time, after a soft reboot, the computer emmits beeps corresponding to a memory fault. It never reboots again until I find and remove a now defective DIMM. That DIMM can never be used again because it is out of order. This just

Temperature on Poweredge 2850
I am trying to get the temperature of a Poweredge 2850 with CentOS 6.3 on it. Has anybody on this list done this successfully? Thanks -Surya PS: Apologies for cross posting if you are on the Poweredge list. -- Surya Saha Department of Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology Cornell University, NY, USA http://www.linkedin.com/in/suryasaha

Checking how many DIMM slots are in use
Hi, I'm wondering if there's a method for doing any of these 1. Check what's the physical memory available. free -m shows ~768 mem but I was sure that I had 1G of memory in there. 2. I check the kernel and it seems like the 4G split is in effect so it should map / correctly recognise there's 1G of Mem there. Is there any way to check besides opening up the machine to look at it

[PATCH] virtio-balloon: fix managed page counts when migrating pages between zones
In case we have to migrate a ballon page to a newpage of another zone, the managed page count of both zones is wrong. Paired with memory offlining (which will adjust the managed page count), we can trigger kernel crashes and all kinds of different symptoms. One way to reproduce: 1. Start a QEMU guest with 4GB, no NUMA 2. Hotplug a 1GB DIMM and only the memory to ZONE_NORMAL 3. Inflate the balloon

SuperMicro X7DBE with CentOS4?
I am planning to build a server based on the SuperMicro X7DBE+-O motherboard. This server will have two dual-core Xeon processors and a 3ware 9550SX raid card. Has anyone built a server based on this motherboard? Are there any issues with the smp/dual-core support in CentOS4 that might cause problems? I appreciate any input. I'm just looking to find out about any possible problems before
