Low Battery Problems
Hello,
I am having a heck of a time with false low battery alarms right now. It has been going on for the last couple of months. I originally started getting them with a UPS that was 1-2 years old so I thought it was time to change it out and buy a new one. I'm still getting the false alarms with the brand new one. The status is "OL LB" which is strange to me.
I have a

If you need to keep a close eye on what is happening, you could also add an
on-screen notification of impending shutdown to all logged-in users using
notify-send. Doing this for NUT is non-obvi...

I’d recommend a battery test. Starting the test via the front panel should be sufficient, or you might be able to do it with upscmd.
This should let the UPS firmware discharge the battery a bit, and see how long it should last.

Stop Shorewall from Sending Messages to TTY''s
Hi,
Is there a way to stop Shorewall from sending its logging messages to
the TTY''s? I''m using Debian Sarge in text mode, and it''s kind of
bothersome sometimes. It also seems to follow me to any TTY.
Thanks,

Hello,
I''m going to be helping a friend setup Shorewall in place of his Cisco
router on his home network. Shorewall will be acting as the router/firewall
gateway for internet access for his home LAN. His connection to the ISP is
via PPPOE. Nothing unfamiliar here to me. It will be a standard 2 interface
setup.
My curiosity was peaked when he said that he is going to be installing

princomp
Hello experts,
as newcomer in pca, i have a question, concerning the princomp algorithm.
With a dataset "r" containing 18 "input" parameters and 1 "output" parameter
r[19], i got with the following fit
ls <- lsfit(r[1:18],r[19]); lsdiag <- ls.diag(ls); lsdiag$std.dev
a prediction error of:

what is quite reasonable. If i take only two
