Emerging dilema? DID forwarding meets SMS
We have a number of DID's that do the standard VoIP tricks: ringing multiple locations, findme-followme etc. What is happening more and more is that customers call those DID numbers, and draw the reasonable conclusion that they are calling mobile numbers because they literally can HEAR that the called party is on a mobile. Consequently many of those customers draw the conclusion that they

icecast2 transcode?
I've got a dilema. For months, I've been planning and implementing a large project involving vorbis, ices2, icecast2 and wifi networking. The plan is to stream live audio from 10 Austin nightclubs during the SXSW music festival this March. Well yesterday, it was made plain to me that I must also provide mp3 streams, since "it's an mp3 world." I'm upset about this

SwitchTower and multiple database.yml files - how do you deal with them?
Hi everyone, What are other people doing with regards to database.yml being in version control? My dilema: I set up my rails app in svn using these instructions: http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/HowtoUseRailsWithSubversion The part to note is where I ignore database.yml, allowing different developers to keep their own database.yml without clobbering other developers'' files.

Ogg response headers
Ok i got a few questions when a client connects (winamp) what are the incoming headers icecast looks for to signify what type(ogg or mp3) of stream the client is requesting? example (for shoutcast winamp sends icy-metadata:1) shoutcast server then recognizes its a player capable of streaming media so it sends the icy-metaint:8192 to winamp, along with a slew of other icy headers. o here is my

Which is more robust/bug-free? Rails 1.0 or 1.1-RC1?
I know that Rails 1.1-RC1 has many new features but it also seems to fix numerous bugs found in Rails 1.1. So for new projects--say a small (<=10 product) ecommerce website set to launch "any day now", should we use Rails 1.0 or 1.1-RC1? Which is more bug-free? I heard 1.1-RC1 gets rid of the ''white screen of death'' but I''m wondering if any new bugs

Help with failing Nut slave/client connection
Tough to get a spoofed IP to actually route back to it's host though, so other than those unfortunate to be on a flat network, still not too much of an issue . . . - Tim On 09/12/2016 04:46 PM, Stuart D. asterisk not sending ACK after reinvite
Hi, I am faced with this dilema of asterisk not sending an ACK after it receives 200 OK from OpenSER (which is a response to a reinvite request sent by asterisk. Here is my setup Carrier<->OpenSER<->Asterisk1<->Asterisk2 A user is connected with Asterisk1 (through the carrier and OpenSER). On certain dtmf events the call is forwarded to Asterisk2 using the Dial command.

Managing dynamic instances with puppet
Hello, My organization is currently running a complete production environment on Amazon EC2, and I''m now trying to implement some automations and scaling with puppet. I have several instances which I want them to be almost automatic, meaning that whenever is needed more instances will come up, and when they''re not needed they will be stopped. This should eventually be

To use asterisk or proprietary hardware, that is the question
Hi there, Here is my dilema. I have a new small business customer that wants me to put in a VoIP phone system for them. Based on their requirements, I have determined that it needs to be a "set it and forget it" type of thing like a lot of small business proprietary systems. At the same time they would like to be able to do minor dial plan changes themselves so I have determine

Help with failing Nut slave/client connection
HI again, Sorry I didn't mean to cause a security debate. I'd like things to be secure of course, but I've got a dilema that I don't use DHCP and instead have a block of static IPs from my ISP. So my nut server has 68.68.452.02 for example and my two slave clients have 68.68.452.03 and .04 ideally I'd like to allow access for the whole static IP block to access the nut

Ogg response headers
icecast doesn't look at the headers at all, they look only at the mountpoint...so in your case, it will look up /my_mp3 or /example.ogg and serve that stream. Icecast WILL send a Content-type in the response headers to the client, but most media players don't actually determine stream types off the Content-type (I think the defunct winamp3 did), but rather by file extension..So in

Dynamic bandwith with HTB
Hi everybody. I have a dilema and I think you guys can help me out. I am trying to shape the bandwith for about 500 clients, and I want the bandwith to be alocated dynamicly. Lets say I have 4 MB bandwith. I give each ip (500 IP''s) a sustained rate of 4 KB/sec . I wonder if I can shape the bandwith so when for example only 100 clients are online, to give them a rate of 4MB/100. How can

Group=????
Good Day list, I have worn out my google toolbar today looking for a way to determine which group an incoming call belong to, but have not been very fruitfull in my endeavors. I am trying to figure a way to determine which group the incoming call that I just answered is part of so I can do some branchinbg scripts in my dialplan. I know I can control my dialplan logic by creating separate
