Can SAMBA be useful for me ?
I am planning to set up a small compute farm consisting of x86 notebooks on a switched ethernet lan. These only have one nic and limited disk, so that I need to import a data partition from an external file server. For this purpose I'd like to use a w98 PC that has access to internet over dsl. I envisage connecting all machines to the ethernet switch using 10/100 links. The ip addresses would

directory permissions
I have just finished replacing a client's Windows / Exchange / IIS setup here with Samba / [Postfix, UW Imap] / Apache and I've run into an issue. In this setup, Samba acts as PDC, so there are NO WINDOWS SERVERS - only win clients. One of the apps that they run seems to explicitly require that the user own the folder that they are saving to. In their prior setup, this was easy, as

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
Gandalf, SIGKILL (killall -9 glusterfsd) did not stop I/O after few minutes. SIGTERM on the other hand causes crash, but this time it is not read-only remount, but around 10 IOPS tops and 2 IOPS on average. -ps On Fri, Sep 8, 2017 at 1:56 PM, Diego Remolina <dijuremo at gmail.com> wrote: > I currently only have a Windows 2012 R2 server VM in testing on top of > the gluster storage, so I will have to take some time to provision a > couple Linux VMs with both ext4 and XFS to see what happens on those. > > The Windows server VM is OK with killall...

OpenLDAP,heimdal kerberos,sasl, wich order?
Hi! I have been reading for about two weeks (maybe I'm reading on the wrong places). I have found as many documents as one could expect describind how to build a LDAPv3 server, or how to build samba with ldap. This far, I have failed, and have a BIG confution in the order in wich the things should go: In one document, they recommend this: samba -> ldap -> sasl -> kerberos
