Success: Digitus DN-170020
Hello, just want to report a successful installation of the Digitus DN-170020 UPS. Works mostly without problems with the megatec driver and the included cable, a few issues arose: - the toggle beeper command seems not to work for this UPS. - to shutdown and cut the power line, a delay has to be inserted for the driver; without the UPS just beeps but does not swit...

Install CentOS 7 over serial port on router board ?
..., monitoring via serial port. Change console settings to point to the serial port as per Giles. Use a USB-to-serial converter to connect to a laptop running a terminal program, or serial cable with a dekstop that still has a serial port. May need a null-modem cable, I don't remember. We use a DIGITUS USB2Serial Converter (Prolific based USBID: VID:067B PID:2303) and then screen /dev/DEVICE 115200 -- LF

request of information
Hello. My name is Ilir Danaj. Last week i bought an UPS from Digitus vendor the Model DN-170091 because I have to connect it with the server from the USB port. I check on your site form compability models, but I see the old model of DN-170014. Does it have to update, or I bought a wrong UPS. Thank you in advance. *Best* *Ilir* -------------- next part ---------...

Energy efficient UPS - anybody?
...e a plastic case looks a little bit dangerous to me, too. since this ups is old anyway, i`d like to replace it with a better one. i have contacted several vendors and they could either not give accurate information or they gave information like "our UPS is 100% efficient in AC-AC mode" (Digitus DN-170020), which i cannot believe to be true, as an UPS is a electrical device which always consumes power for itself. so, this is not a very nut specific question, but i have no idea where this question is better placed, as i think HERE are the real UPS experts :) thanks roland _______________...

MGE Pulsar Evolution 1100 - USB - error sending control message
Hi all, Have been using Nut on Linux for over ten years now and find it brilliant. Thanks. Just upgraded to 2.4.2 and have the 5 or 6 models of UPS's that we use (apcsmart, megatec, mge-shut, surgemax, digitus) all working including the MGE Pulsar Evolution 1100 on a USB connection using the usbhid-ups driver. Running on SLES9. Old but we still have a few servers out there running this. The only problem I have noted is a syslog entry that gets posted constantly when working with the USB connection...

puppet and domainnames
Hello all, when I do a signature request to puppetmaster, if no domainname is configured then puppet gets it from /etc/resolv.conf. Even if the "search" line is commented. I had to delete the search line in resolv.conf to obtain a signature request with hostname only, and then it appears with a final dot (hostname.). Is it that puppet does not like being domainless ? Many of my

Install CentOS 7 over serial port on router board ?
Hi, I have to install CentOS 7 for a client, to act as cache & filtering proxy using Squid. I'd like to use this piece of specialized hardware : http://store.calexium.com/fr/systeme-pre-assemble/869-systeme-pre-assemble-rackmatrix-apu-amd-gx-412tc-quatre-coeurs-1-ghz.html There is no VGA or HDMI video output, just a serial port to connect to, and then three NICs and two USB ports.

samba with daemontools
Hi all, I am trying to use samba with daemontools. (and it's brother runit: http://smarden.org/runit/). I do not want to talk much about runit itself. The main point is that samba *must* run in foreground mode (no fork, no detach from terminal). It is fine up to this point. I found an option '-F' and if I start with smbd -F It will run in foreground so it's OK. But I want to

trust secret location in WinXP
Hi, At our campus we have ~40 machines. If a new program is needed we install it on a single machine and replicate this one to the others. The whole process is automated: (Wake-On-LAN) (with pxe) booting a kernel via grub. booting a minimal ram based linux and doing: netcat server port > /dev/hda If we send a WOL packet the restore process starts. The problem is that we have to rejoin each
