Securing tinc config files
Hi Guus Yeah I kinda thought of that only once I hit the "Send" button .... I guess I have two options , 1. Manage my own server with public ip address 2. Trust my VPS provider LOL.... I read this from digitalocean "Privacy Policy" Server Data *DigitalOcean does not have access to its users? server data. The backend is locked away from the users? support staff and only engineering staff has access to the physical servers where users? virtual machines reside. DigitalOcean does not store users? pass...

As Fabian told centos mail list server admins contacted digitalocean.com about abuse (even though indirect, but with apparent misuse of centos list servers for collecting e-mails of posters). And the moment I received my copy of this spam _after_ Fabian mentioned they co...

Sponsorship from DigitalOcean
Cheers all, you may have seen related preparatory news on the NUT website or in the README changes, but now the next step is official: The fine folks at DigitalOcean approved FOSS sponsoring credits to re-host the custom-built multi-platform non-regression NUT CI farm, which builds several hundred scenarios per iteration (to cover a matrix with many OSes, toolkit versions and implementations, and dependency versions), with a tranche of credits that by my estima...

...ject during last fortnight, and I felt to stay away from it... But I just would add one thing. Blocking originator of messages as John suggests, will work. The only thing about it is: these are single IP domains, and one can easily keep registering new ones, and this is all doable withing the frame digitalocean's (the IP block owner) business model. Attempting to fight on per one case basis with something that can be scripted on the bad guys' side I found counter productive. The only way I've found in the past that is not total waste of my time is: block e-mail from the whole block of IPs of t...

Securing tinc config files
Thanks Guus So based of this , having your central tinc server in VPS Provider , will allow potentially the provider to replicate your config files and thus exposing all your remote sites connected. My situation I face is all my remote sites have dynamic addresses ,and in order for me to create a connection point between the sites is to have a central server in cloud with public address. [HELP] RoR Fedena App Installation: Rake Gem
I''m really a newbie with RoR. But I need to deploy this app as soon as possible. RoR App: Fedena RoR Ver: 1.8.7 When I type any rake commands I always encounter this problem: rake aborted! uninitialized constant ActiveSupport::Dependencies::Mutex Locally, I did find the solution for this problem by downgrading my Rake Gem version from 0.9.2 to 0.8.7.. The problem is installing it on

Throughput on KVM guest - ideas for making it faster
Hi all, thanks for making Tinc available - it works well and I managed to get a decent configuration going in only a few hours, great :) I am building a VPN for my cloud servers (hosted at DigitalOcean, they use Linux and KVM). I am on Ubuntu 12.04 with Kernel 3.0.8-36, and tinc is at version 1.0.16. From a functional point of view, everything works like a charm! But I am wondering, if there is a way to improve the throughput? I used ?iperf? to gather some rough data; when I connect iperf to the...

Any reason Asterisk won't start without a rebuild on a cloned VPS?
Any ideas why a VPS, cloned from another instance (DigitalOcean "droplets" if it matters), won't run on the new instance? Everything else is the same; region, memory, disk, hypervisor version etc. And everything else runs, just not Asterisk, unless I do a make distclean in the /usr/src/asterisk directory, rebuild, and then it runs just fine. I&...

Docs strategy and tactics [RFC]
...people actually do once they've > installed an enterprise OS. This is one of the main motivation about this. Curating content from contributors which write about how to do things on CentOS. When I get a new shiny OS, I need to know how powerful it is, what I can do with it. I have a VPS on digitalocean. The reason I got convinced of using a VPS was their documentation. How awesome a VPS is, what I can do with it.
