Best method for booting logical partions via syslinux...
Hi. Which is the preferable method for booting multiple logical partions via syslinux ? 1. Create seperate logical (fat 32) partitons for 'each' Live CD, extracted and prepared identically via syslinux/syslinux.cfg (sdc5, sdc6,sdc7 etc.) 2. Use Grub2 to attempt to boot seperate logical partitions with the same extracted Live CD plan as above. 3. Use the chain.c32 module that

wpkg for Samba
...a simple binary rpm that installs all of the needed files for both server and client. Thought this may be of some good to someone here. If there is any interest, I'll post the url to download from. I know most folks here like to roll their own. It's worth checking into for sysadmin trench diggers, like me:). Take Care, Barry Cisna

how to invert the matrix with quite small eigenvalues
Dear all, I encounter some covariance matrix with quite small eigenvalues (around 1e-18), which are smaller than the machine precision. The dimension of my matrix is 17. Here I just fake some small matrix for illustration. a<-diag(c(rep(3,4),1e-18)) # a matrix with small eigenvalues b<-matrix(1:25,ncol=5) # define b to get an orthogonal matrix b<-b+t(b) bb<-eigen(b,symmetric=T)

John Rosatti, Excavators, 3D, NASA and Why Should I care?
John Rosatti, Excavators, 3D, NASA and Why Should I care? Well, because! There are two definitions for excavator; one is any person engaging in excavation is called an excavator. The second definition of excavator is, of course, the vehicles called excavators, which are sometimes called diggers, trackhoes, fronthoes, and 360-degree excavators or just 360. This is not to be confused with Microsoft's vertical technology and news search engine called Excavator or xcavator, as one has nothing to do with the other. Here we're talking about heavy duty digging machines, even though s...

...s on their mobiles! On top of this, in most places that a crisis would occur, there is little possibility of installing phones - period. Most plants rely on mobiles, walkie-talkie or DECT phones. The number of armored cables I've seen ripped in half, or optical spurs that have been cut by diggers - VoIP and traditional PBX's have no coverage of these areas - forget redundancy! So at this point, the emergency services have been contact about the crisis three or four times... Possibly three or four addresses, depending on the registration of the phone itself. What if the fire brigad...

load balancing 20 asterisk servers
I've read several other emails and pages on the wiki but none give any deffinate answers. if you have 20 asterisk servers each with 4 pri's, all running RealTime Extensions and RealTime SIPBuddies from the same MySQL server, what prevents you from putting all 20 servers behind a single load balancer? That way all of your UA's can use the same IP to register to; vs maintaining which

Can Syslinux multiboot usb partitions?
Hi. I have had success with a fat32 syslinux partion (/dev/sdc1) booting up Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.1 Live CD (renaming isolinux to syslinux, and isolinux.cfg to syslinux.cfg). Problem to solve; Since some distros expect files/folders in their 'root' location, some 'Append' path locations are unchangeable. For example, Ubuntu works great in the 'root' directory, but if you try
