Text to Speech - Someone needs to do this
Why hasn't someone found 50 people who sound alike, put them in sound studios and record the 10,000 most commonly used words. You would all differnent forms of the 1,000 most words, i.e. leading, trailing, question etc. You can synthesize the other 0.05% when you run into them. With hard drives so big, processors so fast and EXT3 that can handle 30,000+ files in a single directory that seems like the way to do it. You could sell it for BIG buc...

Machine SLOWWWS and then stops after a few minutes running centos 5.
...I had asked the other day about my new machine amd 6000+ and strangely SLOWWING down then eventually stopping. I have tried a new 500W power supply, I took out the extra video card, and just used the one on the motherboard (both are nvidia one with DVI one RGB). I took out all the RAM and tried differnent RAM. I ran memtest86 (ran fine until the machine turn off). Harddrives should be fine since they are not active during memtest86. THe temperature on the CPU has never been higher that 118 degrees. This is after it turns off and I go into the hardware monitor. I reset the BIOS settings or loaded d...

Q: how to restrict access selectively to client initiated local port forward
...1) Open SSH: With open ssh we use the following command: ssh -L yyyy:10.8.0.x:yyyy user at proxy client (a.b.c.d) ------------------> proxy local redirect to -------> (10.8.0.x) where yyyy is the port being forwarded and lo:x is a loopback alias on the proxy to be 10.8.0.x (a differnent loopback IP will exist for each connecting client) This works since it appears to the proxy that the connections are originating from 10.8.0.x. However as far as I can tell there is no way in OpenSSH to define an access control policy for which connecting users are allowed to redirect through...

Managing manifests
...t becomes a matter of changing the release string. Its a bit tricky if we let this happen recursively, with the module''s manifest file able to pull other modules which need manifests included. There are also ordering issues, eg if one of the bits here has a |before| tag for something in a differnent manifest file. Does this sound sensible/reasonable/a good idea? Thanks, Bradley
