Differenet behavior when using dns name and netbios name
Hello, Here is something I have just noticed and was wondering if anyone else has noticed this. When I address the samba server with its primary dns name, there are no problems with observing and changing the settings of the printers. When I address the samba server using the netbios name (different than the dns hostname though it is a cname for this machine), I cannot see any of the printer

where is smbgroupedit and differenet other questions to Samba & AD
Hello List-Friends ;-) O.K. I am a real beginner, so please don't hurt me ;-) but im still working since a few days to get it running and google is my best friend. I also bought O'Reilly 's Samba Book and a lot of other online stuff, but AD-Samba-winbind should be too new. I use Suse 9.1 and Samba 3.0.4 as ADS Member Server. We have an W2k Advanced Server (and a M$-Admin which

Combining multiple speech files into one
...us say, I am considering three rates. I will take the original speech file, compress it using the three rates, which will result in three files. Next, depending on some input parameters, I want to change from which file I will be sending next. Once I receive the whole stream (which has frames from differenet codings), I would like to play this back. Now that is the question, can I combine these different frames into one file for playback, if yes, how, and if no, any suggestions how I can accmplish my goal of playing back a stream containing data compressed using multiple rates. I would truly appreicat...

SysV style printer interface (Works atleast in SCO)
Samba comes with some sort of sysv stylish printer interface but it doesnt do much except puts the file queued to printspooler to smb printer. I've made few posts to differenet newsgroups and ran a quick search thru sambas mailing lists and didnt find anything *really* usefull. What i really needed was printer reseting and lp commandline parsing so that i could change to cpi and lpi options for spooled printout. So, as i didnt find anything usefull, i had to write the...

strange bugs while using mongrel, while running in development (and also sometimes in production mode)
Following errors are taken from monrgrel running in development mode. It complained routes.rb, no such file or directory and then sometimes i get application.rb, no such file or directory.Doesn''t seem correct to me. Though not so often, but even production servers throw these errors sometimes, and i have no special routes setup or something. Its pretty much default one, except few changes

Installing and maintaining R on Ubuntu 9.04 -, best practice
I had an exchange of ideas on this with Dirk E. a couple of months ago. He can correct this if I state it wrongly, but 1) we agreed that using apt/Synaptic structure was best, but sometimes the packages are not available 2) also that using install.packages when there is a .deb can lead to some "confusion" (the package database on the local system does not know about an R package

Echo...
I've spent all day today trying to fix an echo problem and I've made no ground whatsoever. I have Digium TDM400 with 3 FXO & 1 FXS. I've tried this computer at two completely different sites with different phone providers. I've tried compiling & installing different versions of Zaptel (currently running 1.4.0, started at 1.2.9 and worked my way up). I've tried

Pointers to replace astdb
Hi listers, We want to implement one call center with asterisk. The idea is it should be scalable, with openser as an dispatcher and bunch of asterisk servers to do ACD, Queues, Agents things... Easy to say :( Look closely to the current asterisk, we do see some problem: - SIP registrations was stored in astdb. - And queue members also was stored in astdb. - ... asterisk was built as
