Question over broadcasting using icecast server
...like to build up a live radio station. The concept is something like : the server is set up in some place and all producers broadcast themselves from their place, so there is no common studio for every one in the radio station (maybe producers don't even know each other and live in totally diferrent places). The question is how to change from one producer to the next one when the first finishes his/her broadcast ? For example lets say John is the first producer and Mary is the second. John is logged on to the server with his client and its about time to stop broadcasting. If he closes his...

Shutdown from PXELinux
...C s , this action restores WOL and ASF capabilities. I have 15 labs with 10 to 22 PC , one switch(cheap, noname) per lab connects all PC's to a central switch where tftpd and dhcp server is also connected. Frequently 1 -5 random PCs from labs fail to complete the above sequence of actions at diferrent steps and requires on site presence. All PC's load without a hitch pxelinux.0 and pxelinux.cfg/ipaddress so I want to try a shorter action path, with shortest being an option to shutdown , added to PXELinux , or little longer with a .c32 or .cbt program or memdisc + dos + .exe program. Having multiple copies of Windows will greatly depend on how you want them booting. Full installs generally do best in separate partitions/file systems and you could use chain.c32 to load their respective VBRs (volume boot record; boot s...

2 DSL providers, 1 GW IP and Vlans
.../ Internet -> DSL Modem -> VLAN3 The real problema is that each of the DSL modem gives me by dhcp the same GW IP, so only one of the routes could run at the same time, because I have 2 routes 2 Public IP''s (in the same network, its a /24 net) and 1 GW IP with 2 diferrent MAC''s (each of the DSL modem give out it onw LAN MAC along with the GW IP as part of the DHCP reply) It is posible to run a multiroute/failover config in this situation? -- Saludos. password validation
Hi All, I have successfully installed Samba 2.0.7 under TRU64 unix 4.0F with C2 security. With "security=user" I can correctly mount shares using the unix password, and with "security=server" I can successfully mount shares using the NT password. In the "security=server" section, the smb.conf man page says: In this mode Samba will try to validate

We saw these issues in recent ChangeSet: 1. Frank, Thanks for the reply so what I did in the interim was unistalled Hmisc and chron and used version 3.0-2 of Hmisc which doesn't have the dependency on chron, and reinstalled its version 1.1.4 However I still heave the issue, when I try to run the quantile command on the given dataset. PRI echo issues: solvable?
Hello, After solving the other "low hanging fruit" audio issues in our Asterisk PBX, we are left with occasional cases of severe echo which we have not found a solution for yet. Our system: - Asterisk 1.2.0-beta1 - TE110P on a PRI - TDM04 and TDM40, but these are unrelated to current echo issues - Fedora core 3 - Echo canceller KB1 Most calls have minimal, acceptable echo levels. But

Terrible problem, some men in my net changed their MACs! :/
Is any way to detect changed MAC adresses? Someone taught change MACs peoples in my network and I have problems. E.g. Two computers working on one MAC, and one IP (static ARP and DHCP). WinXP is screaming some message... that two computers or more have the same IP. How can I find out who''s changed MAC?

Anyway to "dynamically" start/stop mongrel based on web traffic?
Hey all - I''ve got a question that I haven''t seen addressed anywhere and was wondering if anyone has put any thought into it or not... Here''s my setup... I have several *small* sites running apache/mongrel. Each has a single mongrel instance. Most don''t get any traffic (no one reads my blog :). And I was thinking, I could host a couple of more
