the first time i tried to install centos on my fileserver it detected my reiserfs drives but then didnt give me a kernel to actually access them - strike one now im trying centos on my mail server, wipe the drives, created a mirrored raid array from the setup, (took over 14 hours to format and sync) finally finished the install AND IT DIDNT WRITE THE BOOT RECORD! when it rebooted i got my grub menu...

Hey guys, i installed samba on my Ubuntu 10.04 machine (sudo apt-get install samba) and it didnt create any config files. There is no /etc/samba or /usr/local/samba. I dont realy know what to do.... what is the correct way to set an AMD64 CPU into performance mode at boot time? I have tried doing service network cpuspeed start, then killall -SIGUSR1 cpuspeed and this works but I cant get it working this way at boot. I have set chkconfig cpuspeed on but that didnt seem to help. I just want this particular machine to boot in performance mode and stay there. Jerry

I have been trying to find out if the /etc/aliases file can accept wildcards in the user name I was hoping that a line like or similiar: machine*: myaccount would take any name matching machine* and forward onto the myaccount mailbox. man aliases didnt really help me nor did I find anything else.
