streaming to dialup users gives low quality audio
Hello,
I've got two streams, one for broadband, one for dialup. Well, having
had occation to use a dialup connection recently i checked the dialup
stream. Although it was streaming what the broadband stream was, the audio
quality was audibly worse. It didn't buffer, but it didn't sound as clear as
the broadband stream. I used lame to encode the tra...

Asterisk on a dialup connection?
How will this fare?
I am planning on putting an asterisk box for my brother in the
Philippines but they only have dialup internet. I want them to be able
to use a telephone set on a phonejack or linejack card and call me and
vice versa via VOIP.
My setup in the US is working already with a broadband cable
connection.
I am thinking that dialup may not work because of the bandwidth required
unless I can use the...

Two samba 2.0.7, one dialup line and excessive connects ...
Hi everybody.
I have to admin two offices, about 500 km apart. Because we're in
Germany and dedicated lines (and even VPN ones over the internet) are
very heavy in cost, we use a dialup ISDN connection. That is online
almost 8 hours a day, but still cheaper.
Now the remote office said that their e-mail was too slow and I
installed a second samba server for them, being a logon master so that
they have their H: (home) drive locally, but the data drives from here.
Works quite n...

Dialup Internet through Asterisk server?
Hello,
I was wondering if it was easy to setup a dialup internet account system in
Asterisk somehow(like PPP)
laptop with modem -> PSTN line -> Asterisk server -> Server's broadband
internet connection
Has anyone done this?
Thanks,

G.729 Codec on Dialup
hi All,
We are using Asterisk server with sip phones (SJPhone).
On the local LAN, when we use the SJPhone as the SIP client, communication works fine with no disturbances and noices. But when it comes to dialup connection we harldy hear anything except a rough noice.
We have included G.729 Codec (Annex B) with the Asterisk server, and we added the G.729 Codec to the SJPhone too. But it seems like SJPhone is using a version of G.729 other than Codec G.729 (Annex B) , probably 'Annex A'.
What we wa...

win95, dialup networking, wins
Thats exactly what I have !
I have 2 interfaces, the dialup networking and an ethernet card installed.
I tried everything to get it to work on a per-connection basis, but it
just does not go. The ONLY way I got it to work was setting the wins
server in the main config and setting the dns in each of the dial-ups.
Its really weird that I can define dns on a p...

dialup Win95 -> samba
...ow, subject "Win95 problem"). I've made progress but have now hit a new
problem.
The solution to the original problem (How do you make a "standalone" client
"log on to the network"?) was simply to tick the "Server Type/Log on to
network" checkbox in the dialup properties. I'd omitted doing this before
because it causes a 10 second delay in establishing the dialup connection.
And since there can't possibly be any system on the other end of the line
(i.e. on the ISP's network) which is going to authenticate my system, what's
the point in d...

56K Dialup and VOIP over same PRIs
Anybody have suggestions on having a 56K dialpool and VOIP
connections with an Asterisk box over the same set of PRIs? We've
done the PM3 with PRIs for just dialup, but are looking for a way to
integrate our Asterisk box and move our voice calls onto the same PRIs.

best protocol/codec for dialup
What would be a good combination to use on dialup connections? I know
iax is better than SIP, but I dont' know much of anything about the
various codecs. Also, how well would an iax or sip solution work
compared to skype as far as voice quality?
If it helps, here is what I'm trying to do. We know about 30
