...39;re getting mwi on that phone for
that extension.
I'm sure I can make the virtual extensions work without too big of a
problem. Its the mwi i'm unsure about. How do you force a light to go on?
The setup would be as follows:
Asterisk 1.4
Polycom Soundpoing 501
Either XML Web interface or dialable extention to alter phone info.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

e164.org and FWD now have peering arrangement
There is now a peering arrangement between e164.org and FreeWorldDialup
which means any and all subscribers on FWD are now easily able to make
enum calls by prefixing their call with **164, like wise it's almost as
simple to make a call to FWD by hitting 8829990<fwd number>
This means that for those of you wanting to send/receive calls to/from
FWD subscribers you can now do so, easily

Bell Canada Caller-ID
...uses Bellcore, just like the USA.
It does - almost. For some reason, the former Stentor member
companies use a non-standard implementation of MDMF. Bellcore uses
DN (Directory Number), usually the 10 digit number that includes the
area code found in the phone book. Stentor uses DDN (Dialable
Directory Number), a variable length number that is the number that
must be dialed to call the other person
back (ie local calls don't include area code, long distance includes
the preceding "1"). Normal Bellcore MDMF identifies each part of a
message with a Messa...

is '9' needed for "outside" numbers
I have a small setup with half a dozen phones and a couple of soft
phones that share a voip line and a pstn line. Right now I have it
configured to require a 9 prefix to dial to a number outside the
building. Where we are it is 10 digit dialing for even local numbers,
the local dialable area codes start with 2,4,6 or 9 and our internal
extensions all start with 3. So I was thinking that I could make it
more natural to just eliminate the requirement to dial the 9 prefix for
an outside number? Can anyone see problems with doing this?
Thanks for any opinions,
Mike

Prohibit transfer to one extension
...erited it and don't fully understand it, nor the deep mysteries of asterisk either. I would appreciate any insight you might have. I scoured the 'net and the Digium wiki and my Google-Fu has failed me.
I've been asked to somehow prohibit transfers to extension 3232. It has to be fully dialable from outside, as it is now. But they want to prevent people calling other DIDs and being transferred to 3232. They want the clerks and other people they're calling to tell them to hang up and redial the DID for 3232. They want to be able to tell them that they CAN'T transfer them to that e...

Starting From Scratch
...sting. When I dial 105 from either of my
softphones, it plays the recording fine. My thought for the 106 and
107 extensions was to sort of hard code it so that if I dialed either
of those extensions the call would automatically get routed over my
outbound sip trunk to the appropriate offsite PSTN dialable number.
Once I know that the calls will go through, I will create a proper
dial plan.
The 6000 number is my home PSTN phone. The 2128 number is my office
desk phone (a SIP phone). Here is where I get stumped: When I dial
107 from my SIP softphone, the call goes out fine, and rings my SIP
offi...

Do I have all the functionality with AGI ?
