Unicode? Diacriticals
I just got 2.2.2 setup on a Mac OSX machine using the Samba X from the SourceForge project. Testing showed great performance, but clients can't access files with diacriticals in the filenames. I couldn't find anything on how to do this with the provided configuration tool, but wonder if there's a way to do so directly in Samba. (?) Also, we're a small shop and I'm mapping everyone to Guest to insure everyone can share these files. Aside from that...

Rd problems
Dear users, I'm struggling with encoding issues for documenting some functions. The Rd format is incradible simple, however, because I'm dealing with diacritic strings, I seted up encoding in several Rd files as latin1. Under R, using the checks available in the package 'tools it performs pretty well. But when check the package as cran, I got several encoding issues. Have any one faced this problem? It points out to be a Latex problem, but my gues...

Password complexity checks and local users...
...things i can hit is the > 'Password complexity', because the password does not contain > punctuation. It doesn't have to contain punctuation: The password contains characters from three of the following categories: Uppercase letters of European languages (A through Z, with diacritic marks, Greek and Cyrillic characters) Lowercase letters of European languages (a through z, sharp-s, with diacritic marks, Greek and Cyrillic characters) Base 10 digits (0 through 9) Non-alphanumeric characters (special characters): (~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/...

umlauts in Rd files
...formula (just to be explicit: this is "Mobius" but with two dots over the second letter). R-exts section 2.7 gives \enc{J??reskog}{Joreskog} as an example, but when I cut-and-paste this, the dvi file (as produced by R CMD Rd2dvi) shows the umlauted "o" as A and Z with some diacritical marks, not the desired o with two dots on. Using \"{o} is fine for the dvi output but not the ascii output. How do I put an umlauted "o" in an Rd file in such a way as to have a nice ascii help page and nice dvi files? -- Robin Hankin Uncertainty Analyst National Oceanogra...

Password complexity checks and local users...
AFAI've understood 'samba-tool domain passwordsettings' set domain password settings, while the GPO equivalent settings is for the client (windows client and server os). Currently i've enabled password complexity checks server side: root at vdcsv1:~# samba-tool domain passwordsettings show Password informations for domain 'DC=ad,DC=fvg,DC=lnf,DC=it' Password

Rsync 3.0.0pre8 and Mac OS X
...l to the character E4. The ? occupies in that way 2 bytes. I was very astonished, when I copied a mac-filename, pasted into a texteditor and looked at the file: In the mac-filename the letter ? is coded as: $61CC88, which in utf-8 means the letter "a" followed by a $0308. (Combining diacritical marks) So the Mac combines the letter a with the two points above it instead using the E4 letter Now the things are clear: The filenames are different, in spite of looking equally. A question to the developers: do you see any solution to this problem? Perhaps a --icont=utf8mac, iso885915...

Indic language display problem (character order)
I am having trouble inputing and displaying Bengali script in software running under wine. Like other Indic languages, Bengali has vowels and other diacritics that fall on either side of the previous consonant (i.e. does not follow 'normal' latin script sequential character order). These vowels are not being displayed correctly -- they follow the typed character order, not the correct display order. This problem is consistent across seve...

[patch] improve reliability of Inflector.transliterate
...tiveSupport::Inflector.transliterate, which currently does not handle many characters from Danish, Swedish, Icelandic, Polish and other European languages. This is because the current code relies upon UTF-8 decomposition, but many common characters do not in fact decompose to an ASCII letter and a diacritic. Two very common examples are Scandanavian "ø" and German "ß". If you don''t speak any of the affected languages, imagine if the current method deleted all ocurrences of the letter "s" from English strings, and so generated paramater strings like: "234-...

Well, since I have no answer from Debian in order of patch, I'm trying to do the import using group names with no special character at all. Strange thing - it dosen't work.
