great disappearing email mystery
Have there been any issues with dovecot and using outlook express
(imap) as an email client? I have had a couple of users come up with
random missing emails. Im trying to figure out if it is user error,
or something wacky in my mailserver. I cant find anything telling in
maillog files or my messages. Dovecot version is 1.0.3. Its ok to
reply to me, I get list messages digest.

sent-mail
Im trying to nail down an issue with some users sent-mail. I have had
a few users complaining that their emails are not being copied to
their sent-mail folder. Im not sure how widespread it is, mainly
because most people dont check their sent-mail. Im running Dovecot
version 1.0.7, and yes I know its outdated, but I have had zero
problems thus far. Im grepping through my logfiles and

I started getting this message this morning: May 21 09:13:14 mail

Ive been runing dovecot on a fc6 dell poweredge 2950 for about 4 weeks
now with no issues. Im authenticating against openldap 2.3.27. It
appears ok. I restarted ldap, and dovecot, and everything looked fine
for a few minutes, then this started again. I have around 720

multiple emails
I have a weird issue where several users are recieving the same
email's multiple times. Each email has a different que id, but are
exactly the same otherwise. I thought at first this was a new spam,
but I have local users doing the same thing. Im not sure where to
start looking for the root of this problem. Seems to be pretty
widespread across multiple platforms. I currently

blackberry emails
Does anyone have clients using blackberrys to access their emails on a
dovecot server? If so are there any gotcha's that I need to configure
in dovecot for this to work? Looks like all emails go to and from a
blackberry server before getting to clients.
thanks,

upgrade from version 1.0.3 to version 1.0.7
Im working on upgrading to dovecot-1.0.7 from version 1.0.3 which I
installed using yum. I backed up my init.d stuff so everything still
works. However, when I shutdown my old dovecot version and start the
new, I get an empty mailbox when logging into mail. My current config
for dovecot.conf on version 1.0.3 has this for my mailbox
location:mail_location = mbox:~/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u

What exactly do you mean by archiving?
I mean every single email sent and recieved is kept for a period of
time (3 -5 years) separate from users mail, and emails cant be
deleted. Ideally emails would have compression, mailboxes need to be
searchable easily, and some mechanism whereby attachments sent to
multiple people only get saved once, and emails sent to multiple
people only get saved once. I could do something with

mail archiving (Andreas Ntaflos)
Thanks Andreas,
Ill look int postfix. Ive always used sendmail and was able to
migrate my mailman mailing lists and aliases files over from my old
mailserver several years ago when it lost its drives (thank god for
backups). Luckily at that time I had a server that I was building
for another totally different reason, and I just moved my configs
over. Ive actually never had any
