screen goes blank
Hi I just upgraded wine to version 0.9.25 on ubuntu dapper, and now DeusEx makes the screen/desktop go blank. I've been running DeusEx for a long time without issues. I've tried reverting back to version 0.9.24, but the blank screen happens still. I'm running all application in an emulated desktop, so no matter what, wine shouldn't turn the entire screen...

FIXED: Deus Ex on latest WineX
Hi, I got it running! I have also installed the latest patch of Deus Ex. Here're a step-by-step instructions: 1. Create an empty file with at least 1.5 GB (1 GB is not enougth for saving games!): dd if=/dev/zero of=DeusEx_Game bs=1024k count=1600 2. Connect it to a free loop-back device: losetup /dev/loop6 DeusEx_Game 3. Create a VFAT filesystem on it: mkfs.vfat /dev/loop6 (ignore the error message) 4. Create a mount-point where the game should be placed to: mkdir /c/Games/DeusEx 5. Mount the loop-back device wh...

Configuring Wine to use on a separate partition
Is it possible to put Wine on somewhere that's other than the Home partition? Like a separate "windows" partition? Also, as I intend to use the Home partition to store most of my work/documents, is there a way for Wine to look beyond the Home/ whatever directory it's in? In other words is there a config file in Wine that I can map drives? I want it to be able to look into into

...nager-- you can get to an installation directory installed to a partition mounted in ~/winstuff much faster in a file manager than if you have to Show Hidden Directories => .wine => c_drive => Program\ Files => install directory => program.exe (or program.cfg, if your goal is to edit DeusEx.ini, for example). But of course you could just make a higher-level symlink in your ~ directory so you could get to C:\Program Files somewhat faster if you needed to. So, it depends, like most things Linux, on what you personally need to make your system easier for you to use, based on how you per...
