samba panic
...possible to print and even to upload drivers to the printers on
the Samba server but theses crashes are nonetheless very annoying.
I've already tried to delete the pdb's in /var/lock/samba to reset all
printing related information but that did not help.
Thanks for your help !

P.S.
This is a log entry of a typical 'printer panic'. Please mail me if you
need the whole level 5 log.

Is "vfs objects = acl_tdb" allowed?
Hi,
I had issues using"vfs objects = acl_xattr" (possibly too old version
[Version 4.13.13-Debian] for the needed "acl_xattr:security_acl_name =
user.samba" option needed if running in a non-priv container). So I
tried "vfs objects = acl_tdb" and found it working.
In https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/File_System_Support I found:

domain join - no sambaSamAccount created
...s is
also what the LDAP log tells me: There are no errors at all, but the LDAP traffic still stops right after the posixAccount user is added.
I've also got a level 3 Samba log for the client machine. It doesn't tell me much more, but it can be mailed on request.
Thanks for any help !

Fwd: Can Samba just store ACL information (without interpreting it) without AD?
Hi,
I read several articles on the internet, but I fail to understand how
ACL storage technically works. Of course in almost any case, ACL
should not only be stored but also evaluated, and for this this Samba
server needs to be a member of the AD domain. I think I understand
this, but I have a different use case. I hope someone can help and
possibly has a link or such.

DOS error 58 is back
Hi all,
yesterday i switched from Samba 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 RC2 because we want to
upgrade our Windows XP clients to SP2 which seems to cause printing
problems with all older versions of Samba. Unfortunately this
reintroduced a problem regarding DOS ( please see
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-July/089609.html ) which i
already had experienced when i switched from Samba 3.0.4 to

...Win driven AD (3 DCs). First I had not all in upper case
in krb.conf. I learnt uppercase is needed and fixed it. To go sure I
left domain, killed the container and started again from scratch (hope
nothing is stored anywhere).
I don't get getent passwd working:
getent passwd 'DMYDOM\a-sdettmer'
it returns just nothing. wbinfo -u works. Before starting from
scratch, I tried many things I found with Google but I had no success.
Could please someone take a look and enlighten me? Probably I forgot
something or configured something wrong, but I just fail to find it
since many hours. :(...

strange DOS-Error 58
Hi,
based on Bart Lagerweij's ( www.nu2.nu ) bootdisk, I've created a small
DOS system that users can start by booting from network ( PXE ). The
system is configured to map a network drive from a Suse 9.0 Pro / Samba
server with various tools on it. The connection is anonymous.
Until recently everything worked fine but suddenly there are strange
errors:
When I try to launch an EXE from
