Talk about coincidences! I didn't have time until yesterday afternoon

multiple ices streams and misc other stuff?
Hi all: I was just wondering when the multiple streams stuff might be
checked in to cvs. I remember the gentleman working on it saying he
basically had it running? The reason I'm asking is that I have
received a number of requests to stream my mp3 stream at various
bitrates. I kind of think running three ices streamers is silly if
multiple streams will be available in the near future.

About Names
Hello all,
I've been using ext3 since it was released for 2.2 kernel, and I've
always wondered about the name.
Calling it 'ext3' implies that it's a brand-new filesystem, not just a
journalling add-on for ext2. I guess I understand that you want to be
able to use ext3 and ext2 in the same kernel, but why not make it a
mount option, since the journal code is separate in the

Advantages of HVM vs. paravirtualization in a Linux-only enviroment?
Newbie here. My hardware supports HVM (full virtualization), but I only need
to run Linux on it. I initially tried to create a HVM domU, but couldn''t
get pciback to work with a telephony card I need for use with Asterisk.
However everything seems to be working fine under a paravirtualized guest as
long as I use permissive mode on the card. (Knock on wood-I''ve had some

Bitmap memory leaks (Bug 251)?
I see that this problem was noted a while ago (http://rubyforge.org/
tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=251&group_id=35&atid=218) but it
seems not to have received much attention. Any chance that it will
be looked at anytime soon? So far, I prefer wxRuby to Ruby/Tk
because of that closer coupling with the native window manager.
However, the memory leak is just murdering me.

R 0.62.3 to be released soon
For the (slightly) adventurous among you:
We plan to roll out R 0.62.3 next Friday. In order to root out
remaining bugs before the release, I'd like to encourage you to try it
out on your system.
Since there is a risk of destabilising things whenever you mess with
the configure scripts, we won't attack installation problems on
unusual platforms after this week.
We also won't take

troubleshooting unexpected disconnects
Hi list,
I am still having troubles with rsync, as on large areas in our setup, it
keeps dying unexpectedly. See my previous post two days ago for the
initial tries. I realize it is a somewhat broad question, but how do I
troubleshoot these disconnects?
Im no great programmer, although we have a few good c programmers around,
and if needed I can ask for their help.
But for now, my thinking is,

TSAN hack on AArch64 for Android
...able-runtime" and
investigated it.
Never 2/3 of the tests. Never when touching other arches / OSs.
Have you tested your changes in x86_64 Android/Linux? AArch64 Linux?
What other arches would it touch? Mips64?
If your changes are *that* unstable in Android, I'm very worried that
it will destabilise the whole AArch64 implementation, which we just
pushed in and it is working.
One good example is ASAN/AArch64. When Christophe implemented it last
year, it took us 2 months to commit it to the tree, but we left the
build and *all* tests disabled because it passed 100% on our boxes,
but not on the...

Moving indextext.cc into core.
One of the items on the ToDo list for version 1.0 at
http://wiki.xapian.org/TodoFor1_2e0#preview is:
"Rework Omega's indextext.cc as a xapian-core "TextSplitter" class."
I've been wondering about this for a while now. Currently, we have the
Query Parser in Xapian core, but no text processing. Clearly, it makes
sense to have a "text splitter" class in

TSAN hack on AArch64 for Android
IMO having to disable 2/3 of the tests means the patch isn't ready yet.
