Filtering output
...if I am not mistaken: sc <- split(x, list(x$Category, x$SubCategory), drop=TRUE) Now I wish to get the Category and SubCategory that the data was split on. So my first attempt would be: sc[[1]]$Category[1] But that yields [1] (Unknown) 46 Levels: (Unknown) 10" Plates 7" Plates (Dessert) ... WOMEN Is all I want is '(Unknown)'. I am not sure what 'levels' are and hence they have no meaning to me and I would like to filter that out. Any ideas? Thank you. Kevin

[LLVMdev] Proposal: stack/context switching within a thread
...s bad as it sounds because it only happens to threads that call into C extension modules. Pure Python threads operate entirely within heap Python frames. Still, it would be nice to support this use case. Kenneth, I don't want to insist that the first version of this be both a floor wax _and_ a dessert topping, but is there a natural extension to supporting what Stackless needs that we could add later? It looks like swapcontext() simply repoints the stack pointer and restores the registers, while Stackless wants it to be able to allocate memory and copy the stack. Maybe that implies a "mode&...

The price is fixed regardless of the items you order: 25 euros for 2 courses (entree and main course, or main course and dessert) or 35 euros for 3 courses. There is a good wine selection, many are reasonably priced. Mark

Andrey posted the following update at his sourceforge web site. I'm sharing it here because I think it is fascinating to see the progress in his FPGA implemention of the Theora codec as it happens. John <snip> Wrote code and partially simulated compressor_two module with submodules. It gets fixed-width (12-bits) "pre-tokens" from the frame buffer in the coded order

January Ruby events in the SF Bay Area
Bosco So has located a promising new venue for the SF Ruby Meetup: There is WiFi access to the Internet as well as a large plasma TV/monitor for presentations. In addition to offering caffeine in various forms, they have sandwiches and desserts. Lastly, there are lots of dining opportunities nearby for apres-event chowing. -- http://ruby.meetup.com/6/events/4815812 Meanwhile, I''m continuing to schedule Beer & Pizza SIGs, allowing us to have comestibles, conversation, etc. My spouse Vicki and I really like Wild P...

[LLVMdev] Proposal: stack/context switching within a thread
Right now the functionality is available, sometimes, from the C standard library. But embedded environments (often running a limited standard library) and server environments would benefit heavily from a standard way to specify context switches within a single thread in the style of makecontext/swapcontext/setcontext, and built-in support for these operations would also open the way for

data lost in cv.tree?
...opying stuff around is not the answer. I need the R model.frame enlightenment! Same problem arises in stepAIC, and global assignment to frame 0 solves it, but there should be (a) a better way and (b) a clear general understanding as to where formuli and data frames are associated and found! For dessert, I want to run R under cygwin; Windows distro is stand-alone, quits in cygwin; is there a cygwin-ready distro? Compiling with mingw howtos seem to be for the stand-aloner also... And just by itself, it doesn't compile easily (?)... Cheers, Alexy

as.data.frame peculiarities
The documentation of as.data.frame is not explicit about how it generates column names for the simple vector case, but it seems to use the character form of the quoted argument, e.g. names(as.data.frame(1:3)) [1] "1:3" But there is a strange case: names(as.data.frame(c("a"))) [1] "if (stringsAsFactors) factor(x) else x" I feel fairly comfortable calling this a

validates_presence_of *_id attributes
Hi all, I am a newbie to Rails. Please enlighten me on how to do this appropriately, the Rails and the Ruby way: Suppose I have a Recipe model. Let''s simplify things and pretend that it has only 2 attributes, a :name and the other is a ''category_id''. In the recipes table, category_id is a foreign key to field id of table categories. We also assume that I have generate

World of Warcraft - Screen Tearing
...not the 'broken' ones that cause fan failure. I've taken the time to add a registry key for Direct3D, and am making sure that the system is using OpenGL rather than piling it over DirectX as it is normally wont. The system is eating WoW in maximum settings without having to pause for dessert, but for an error that keeps arising in areas of high population / multiple 'zone loading'. The error takes form as 'shards' of color radiating out at random, though only within the graphics region of the game; my user interface (a layer series over the top of the graphics) is unaf...
