[RFC] A proposal for byval in a world with opaque pointers
...s would have to be done for inalloca and sret as well - sret only needs it when targeting SPARC, although still generally useful in analysis. To sidestep some of the concerns and allow a smooth transition towards a byval that works with opaque pointers, I've come up with a new approach: Reuse dereferenceable(S) and align A for the size and alignment of byval. That is, a byval dereferenceable(S) align A argument is guaranteed to have S bytes available to read from, *and only S*, aligned to a multiple of A. Reading past that size is UB, as LLVM will not copy more than S bytes. An API can be provid...

Ebb Web Server
Hello Mongrel Users, I''m writing a web server called Ebb. It''s written in C, makes use of the Mongrel HTTP parser, and uses libev its event loop. The goal is to be small, fast, and language independent server that can host web frameworks. I have written a small Ruby binding which provides a Rack handler - this will allow Ebb to host Rails, Merb, and other Ruby frameworks. In the

Dereferenceable load semantics & LICM
I left a comment on https://reviews.llvm.org/D18738 earlier which I feel is related to this discussion, so I'm reproducing it here: I wonder though if what we want to express isn't some sort of "type-based dereferencability annotations". For example the semantics I care about are essentially, "if you know you have a defereferencable pointer, you can go and dereference any other valid (managed) pointers the pointed to data references (recursively)". This has to be true for me, because the GC walks...
