type=peer vs type=user (depricated?)
I'm looking at setting type=peer vs type=user (in both IAX and SIP conf entries), and I found a comment attributed to digium (http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+SIP+user+vs+peer) in 2005 that type=user is depricated and that we should only use type=peer
Is that still correct? Will type=user be phased out, and should even new installs of older asterisk versions (eg: 1.6) use type=peer only?
Are people still using type=user for phone sets? (and type=peer for upstream/trunks only)

Sun depricates JRE 1.4.2, what impact on Centos?
From a different list:
"JRE from SUN is getting depracated:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html"
Centos comes with the 1.4.2-gcj-compat rpm. What impact does this all have?
I do have JRE 1.6.0_05 installed on most of my systems (I see that
update 10 is the now current version).

[PATCH net-next 0/5] virtio-net: Add SCTP checksum offload support
...ed. All that GSO does is allow for higher bundling
rate between VMs. If that is all SCTP GSO ever going to do, that fine,
but the goal is to do real GSO eventually and potentially reduce the
amount of memory copying we are doing.
If we do that, any current attempt at GSO in virtio would have to be
depricated and we'd need GSO2 or something like that.
This is why, after doing the GSO support, I decided not to include it.

Fixtures Problem
I''m having a problem configuring fixtures -- for some reason, when I run
my unit test, I''m not getting any of the instance variables that are
advertised in "Agile Web Development with Rails". I''ve gone through
various Wikis and Google, and it seems like I''m the only person with this
problem. There is no error message per se, but when I try to use the

Considering that it still takes several minutes to format a partition with EXT4
vs the couple of seconds for XFS, I don't see XFS depricated *any* time soon.

have_tag matcher in rspec 2?
I always assumed have_tag was part of rspec, but it''s not in rspec 2,
and looking now I don''t see it in rspec 1 either. Webrat defines it, but
that seems like a coincidence (I tried requiring webrat/core/matchers to
no avail).
Is it depricated, not yet implemented, or does it work for everyone
else?
My project is from scratch, rspec-rails 2b13, using generated
spec_helper.
Thanks in advance!

Changes on CVS HEAD
I just installed the latest cvs head and seems a lot of commands haven been
depricated.
Where can I see the changes on all cvs head versions in order to keep up
with the changes needed on my side.
I checked the wiki and it still shows all the old commands and no mentions
about the changes.

PHP/Samba Authentication w/ tdb files.
Hello,
I am working on a web based file system access solution for the company I
work for. I need to authenticate users against samba's password database, I
found a project called PEAR::File_SMBPasswd that works with the older (and
now depricated?) smbpasswd file format, however it fails spectacularly when
using it with sambas TDB formatted files.
I have googled for the last week trying to find a solution, or even some
docs on the tdb format so I could read it with PHP but I am at the end of my
rope (and soon my deadline) for this one....

wxWidgets 2.5
I''ve just gotten wxruby-swig to compile with wxWidgets 2.5 on Mac OS X.
Thankfully, it mostly consists of getting rid of already depricated
methods from the widget classes. I need to try with Linux and Win32, but
it should be a smooth transition.

Wow.
I say this having voted for pjsip over the listed alternatives back when
the plan to depricate chan_sip was first floated:
That should have excluded pj from the options. Which of course means
there were no reasonable options.
Can ari get around that bug?
Lack of full support for traversing nat makes pjsip worthless for a
large number of users. And the whole point of realtime is to h...

Kickstart ksdevice question
This should be easy to answer (I hope).? We routinely kickstart boxes to
use for managing our customers RADIUS/DHCP configurations (along with
other things).? We've had a C7 kickstart in place since I built one in
May and are finally starting to roll it out for new installations.? But,
I'm curious as to what ksdevice= actually does.
With the C6 we routinely used ksdevice=eth0 since we

and I don't know how to create same users than PDC for samba and how to make

Puppet with Mcollective, which modules and how ? (TheForeman)
Hi All,
I have a working installation of a Puppet Master (CA) with Puppet agents,
this using The Foreman. I really see the usage of Puppet this way but
because The Foreman supports pushing your classes/templates to you nodes
(agents) and uses the depricated Run/Kick for it I''m looking into
Mcollective.
Mcollective is supported by The Foreman since 1.2, the version I''m running
at the moment.
The integration of Mcollective is very confusing to me because of the
common/agent/client packages you have.
At the moment I have insta...

Higher quality narrowband streaming options
...o in unless there's something out
there that's fairly generic and can be easily customisable. Our station
is a volunteer outfit with no budget, so my strong preference would be for
us to use a natively supported format so that it "just works".
As mentioned, I'm looking to depricate MP3. It's really not possible to
get 44.1 kHz MP3 under 56 kbps, and that only in mono. This isn't really
"narrow" enough for my tastes.
I'm not a big expert on AAC, but it seems to me that plain AAC (no
"plus") doesn't really offer much over and above...
