On my network I have one Samba PDC (Version 3.0.28 running on FreeBSD 6.3-PRERELEASE), one mail server (FreeBSD + Dovecot + Postfix) and a dozen or so WinXP/Win2K machines. The WinXP/Win2K machines all have static IP addresses. The Windows clients are configured to look up the Samba PDC machine for both DNS and WINS. The Windows clients seem to be able to find other machines as well as the PDC:

...BSD box the connection state is FIN_WAIT_1. On the Cygwin side the connection state is ESTABLISHED. The connections seem to be hanging around indefinitely. If I "push" the files from the Cygwin machine, rsync runs fine and exits with no error. How can I resolve this problem? -- Joe Demeny

My late try was, after d/l a .whl from last year, hoping that would work with the numpy package in the regular repos, I did a pip install --user scikit-learn..., and it still seems to want to write to system space: OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied:
