The model is:-
fm1 <- lm(TS.CM ~ AGE + SEX + HFE.Y.01 + TFC2B.01 + HFE.Y.01*TFC2B.01, data

summary (fm1)
TS.CM is a continuous variable (%s), sex is coded 0 = women, 1 = men,
DIAG2.1D is coded 0 = non-demented, 1 = ALzheimer's disease and the genes,
HFE.Y.01 & TFC2B.01, are coded 0 = non-carrier and 1 = carrier
I've tried recoding the data to use 1 & 2, instead of 0 & 1, and I've
removed the rows with missing data. I've also tried putting "...lm(formula

Overriding validation?
Is there a "normal" way to override the behavior of validator methods
(like validates_presence_of) for updates vs. creation? For example,
in the AWDR example store program, the User class validates the
presence of the password and its length - which makes sense when the
user entry is created. But what if you wanted to provide an update
form that updates just certain items

Check if current route == some route
I have a before_filter in ApplicationController in which I want to check
if the current location is the same as a certain route, so that I only
redirect non-logged in visitors to the "join" page if they''re not on
that page already.
The code I came up with is a bit ugly:
redirect_to join_url unless (@logged_in or action_name == "join")
I''m pretty sure

[Bug 819] patch to add kerberos password-changing
...and, if that works, dumps the user into kpasswd instead of
passwd
note that i don't consider myself security-cognizant enough to have thought
through all the ramifications of this and whether it might not be opening up
holes. nevertheless, i'm submitting it in case it's not completely demented,
so you all can figure out whether to implement it and, hopefully, code it up
so it doesn't have the bugs my patch undoubtedly does

windows oddity related to alternate data streams
...ectory. Looking around my shares, it seems
that those with more directories indeed seem to lag more.
Anyway, now that I know its cause, I'd like this lag gone.
It seems support for alternate streams are a planned feature, but in
the meantime, does anyone know of some way to avoid windows being
demented about this?
Could samba tell windows it's not possible? (did I misconfigure samba?)
Could I tell windows not to try?

I am new to Ruby on Rails. I have read a lot, and bought several books,
and now I have started to implement a modified "shopping cart",
following the AWDWR-book, with modifications to suit our application
(subscriptions and memberships).
Having done up to chapter 7 I have had no real problems, except one:
Since our customers are Swedish I need the screen names, texts etc to be

Error with mongrel_rails start
When I make an empty Rails web application, and go through the steps
to create/include a database, and scaffold, mongrel_rails start (or
ruby script/server) works just fine. However, I attempted this with a
pre-existing web app and I got some errors.
First, I gathered the app''s folder (checked the contents, it has all
the folders plus one extra: components) and placed it under ruby/

OpenVPN and DNAT
Hello Tom and all,
Quick question: Is it possible to operate an OpenVPN server from behind
a firewall?
Is it as simple as setting it up and placing:
DNAT net loc:192.168.10.20 udp 5000 - ipaddress

Migrate a share from Mac-OSX to NAS ASUSTOR samba 4.4
Hello everyone,
I hope you are well. Take care of yourself.
I have the same problem as describe here:
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2014-December/187545.html
I migrate a file share from a MAC-OS environment. For its new storage
system, the company purchased an ASUSTOR NAS. This NAS works with an
operating system based on version 4.14 of the GNU / LINUX x86_64 kernel.
This NAS operates a
