comparing SAS and R survival analysis with time-dependent covariates
Dear R-help,
I was comparing SAS (I do not know what version it is) and R (version
2.6.0 (2007-10-03) on Linux) survival analyses with time-dependent
covariates. The results differed significantly so I tried to understand
on a short example where I went wrong. The following example shows that
even when argument 'method' in R function coxph and argument 'ties' in

Using .Call function to do matrix calculation
Hello,
Because of high dimensionality of matrix, I can not use R matrix calculation
operator to do matrix multiplication. My interest is the diagonal elements
of J*J matrix( which can be got by multiplying matrix a(J*K) and b(K*J)),
where J is too big to allocate enough memory for it. In order to get those
diagonals, I tried .Call function to do that. Here is c program for .Call.

Problems creating DomUs with large memory system/PAE enabled
All.
I am running Xen on an ES7000 system with 4 procs and 4 GB memory.
I am running Suse Sles-9 (32-bit) on the machine.
I have compiled Xen (the tip on the unstable tree : 6552) with PAE
enabled (XEN_TARGET_X86_PAE=y).
The system boots fine.
I started xend and when I tried to bring up a virtual machine, the
system gave me the following error on the command line.
On the serial port, I saw an

Access is exclusively via RDP-sessions. I don?t know if I can get a VM to hibernate
when idle and to wake up when someone tries to connect; and delying logins as mmight
occur when the VM needs to wake up first is not an option. Besides, internet access

system account delivery userdb authentication
Hi
I have a remaining issue with a mail server setup.
Composed of Postfix and Dovecot it is is a 'local' mail server
At first I relied upon Mysql to store the various parameters, and then
switched to a flat file approach
I also initially set the server up to handle virtual users, but then I
realized that it was destined to manage local system accounts only. So I
reconfigured it

Samba mount (from one of our build scripts). We decided to upgrade to RedHat
7.2 (which uses a newer version of Samba -- 2.1.1b IIRC), maybe that fixes
the problem. However, I decided to submit this bug report, in the hope that
it may help kill some bugs. (Remember -- the only good bug, is a dead bug
:))
So, here is the dmesg output:

PRI/T-1
Ok so I'm thinking about migrating to a Flex T-1 with 1.024Mb Data and 6
Hard Incoming/Outgoing Phone Lines.
I can either break them out via channel bank and use a FXO to convert them
but I'm told it will add a dely of at least one ring. And you have
another analog/digital conversion to the mix.
The 2nd option is to bring them in over PRI's
Question is the solution provider will

ACL and user list on windows XP
Hi,
I try to setup a simple file sharing with some ACL for a group of users.
My Samba 3.0.14 server is running on Fedora Core 4 using pam_ldap.
User authentication works correctly with ldap and my nsswitch is
correctly configured to use the ldap as "extended list" of users and groups.
For exemple, when I type getent passwd or group, I have the complete
list of system users and ldap

ACL and recursive permission
Hello,
I'm trying to setup a Samba with ACL support.
Everything is working fine BUT I have a problem when I try to change
permission on a share from a Windows XP/2000 environment.
When I select a directory and goes on the "Security" tab and change the
permissions (for exemple set write for user xyz), it changes the ACL for
the directory but it doesn't change the subfolders

Problems with power management
I do not seem to be able to get any where with the power management
functions. I have had a look at the xenpm Wiki page, but it hasn''t
helped. Its probably something completely obvious, but I can''t see it.

Intel S5000PSL motherboard with 2 x Xeon 5410s. Dom0 is running the

Re: XSA-36 / howto fix broken IVRS ACPI table
I have the same motherboard. The chipset has 2 IOAPICs: one in the NB
(00:00.1), and another in the SB (00:14.0).
As currently configured by the BIOS, the NB IOAPIC is _entirely_
disabled, with only the SB IOAPIC enabled and configured. From
48693.pdf, it would seem that the NB is improperly configured, as
6.4.1 recommends that
"The IOAPIC should be enabled by the system BIOS and the

So far, I?ve only found information regarding blocking access for particular
users. I want it the other way round, i. e. the whole maching usually not
having access and allowing access to only a particular user.

Cortar una cadena por un caracter solo cuando no forma parte de una subcadena entrecomillada
Hola, ¿qué tal?
Tengo el siguiente problema. Me llegan (simplificando) cadenas del tipo
1,2,"algo"; 3,"cosa"; 4,2,3,7;
y tengo que partirlas por el caracter ";" para meterlas en una lista.
Lo hago con strsplit y no tengo problemas...

1,2,"algo;todo"; 3,"cosa"; 4,2,3,7;
