Performance Problems in smbmount but not in smbclient
...Server machine that has abysmal performance when copying files to it over smbmount from a linux machine or through Finder on OS X but performs very well when copying files through smbclient from the same Linux and OS X machines. I have already tried the commonly suggested adjustment of net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0 and have not noticed a significant performance improvement. Through smbmount I am seeing about 2-3 megs up and 8 megs down, when I am in the upper 20s or lower 30s/sec with smbclient. What could account for this performance discrepancy? Any ideas (even far-fetched ones) would be much appreciated...

Slow performance to samba server with OSX client
...correctly and completely wired. 1. the fileserver samba version is 3.0.14a 2. the samba configuration is vanilla (with one share added) 3. the realtek nic is in full duplex mode (see ethtool dump) 4. the imac samba version is 3.0.10 5. performance using scp is acceptable (11.5 MB/s) 6. setting the delayed_ack on the iMac to 0 makes hardly any difference (still 2 hours) Tweaking the samba config helps a little, but nowhere near the 23MB/s I get when running tcpdump. I also thought it might have something to do with lookups dns or lmhost or something, but that doesn't explain this. I'm lost. Ch...

Difference between root as samba user and other non-root-users?
...llation of CentOS 7.3 and Samba in the version 4.4.4. I am setting up a share for Mac-Clients with the required vfs-modules catia, fruit and streams_xattr. I also configured two changes on the Mac side. /etc/nsmb.conf [default] signing_required=no /etc/sysctl.conf auf dem Mac: net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0 When I mounted the share with as normal samba user and execute the command "time du" on a folder with 50000 files inside I got a time of around 4 seconds. When I do the same with the root as samba user I got the result of 1,5 seconds. I created more and more files and repeated the c...

6.3-RELEASE-p3 recurring panics on multiple SM PDSMi+
We have 10 SuperMicro PDSMi+ 5015M-MTs that are panic'ing every few days. This started shortly after upgrade from 6.2-RELEASE to 6.3-RELEASE with freebsd-update. Other than switching to a debugging kernel, a little sysctl tuning, and patching with freebsd-update, they are stock. The debugging kernel was built from source that is also being patched with freebsd-update. These systems are

No subject
...read many articles on the Internet including those in this mailing list, but none of the them helps. The things I have tried include: - adding socket options of TCP_NODELAY & IPTOS_LOWDELAY to smb.conf - adjusting value of SO_RCVBUF and SO_SNDBUF, from 1024 to 262144 - switching net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack on and off - switching oplocks on and off - setting the NIC to half duplex - re-installing Samba 2.2 using ports & package - installing Samba 2.0 instead I am quite sure it is not a network problem because FTP to and from the server is extremely fast, comparable to the old server we are using...
