Problem halting/restaring a lxc container from within
Hi,
I've been making some tests with libvirt and LXC and found some problems
when halting/restarting a LXC container from within.
Basically, on a Ubuntu 12.04 system with libvirt installed as package
(0.9.8), I've created a basic container image with:
lxc-create -t ubuntu -n lxc
And started it using the libvirt XML listed below and the following command:
virsh -c lxc:// create

Meaning of "vlan=" and "name=" in Linux KVM
Greetings KVM gurus,
I am trying to understand a "use case" scenario for the "vlan=n"
option and "name=name" for the "-net nic" and "-net tap" directives.
I have done some search but I have not come up with anything that
sheds any light on the above.

kvm CLI :: meaning of "vlan=" and "name=" options in -net nic and -net tap
Did not get any response in the CentOS Virt list.
Posting in the CentOS General list hoping that some one here can
provide clarification.

On the ups killpower via ethernet
...working seems a simple fix to me.
I don't see any obvious problem in having the network interface up while
halt is reached. At most for kexec could be a problem (not tried) but we
can do without that.
What problems do you see in disabling /etc/rc0.d/S35networking so that
interfaces are not deconfigured?
If you confirm you don't see any problem, then I think I can implement
my own way to kill the power via telnet.
(and also I could suggest you to actually implement the shutdown
procedure in snmp-ups, and just document the fact that users have to
delete /etc/rc0.d/S35networking for it to wo...

答复: 答复: How to disable CTDB pulling up NICs
Thank you very much for reply. Our test team insists on simulating network failure by using ifdown instead of just unpluging the cable. I have to modify the event script 10.interface. When noticing a NIC failure, CTDB just marks the NIC down and do not try to pull it up. It seems to work fine.

Newbie questions -- is OCFS2 what I even want?
Dear Sirs and Madams,
I run a small visual effects production company, Hammerhead Productions.
We'd like to have an easily extensible inexpensive relatively
high-performance
storage network using open-source components. I was hoping that OCFS2
would be that system.
I have a half-dozen 2 TB fileservers I'd like the rest of the network to see
as a single 12 TB disk, with the aggregate

[PATCH] nr_cpus calculation problem due to incorrect sockets_per_node
Testing on an 8-node 128-way NUMA machine has exposed a problem with
Xen''s nr_cpus calculation. In this case, since Xen cuts off recognized
CPUs at 32, the machine appears to have 16 CPUs on the first and second
nodes and none on the remaining nodes. Given this asymmetry, the
calculation of sockets_per_node (which is later used to calculate
nr_cpus) is incorrect:

R-beta: updating the library index / overriding compile options
Would it be possible to include a new command in the ${RHOME}/etc path, which
updates the Library index (Rd and html) via "R LIBINDEX".
I need it because I use RPM to manage three different R installations (at home,
at the institute and in the seminar rooms). I put all libraries into several
packages, so it is easy for me to update a single library at all these
different places.

XL: pv guests dont reboot after migration (xen4.1.2-rc2-pre)
A pv guest will not reboot after migration, the guest itself does
everything right, including the shutdown, but xl does not recreate the
guest, it just shuts it down.
This goes for 2.6.39 and 3.0.4 guest kernels, havent tried different
ones. I also haven tried different xen versions.
Dont know if this would affect hvm, probably not since qemu leaves the
guest running and does a

Hi guys,
I am new to QEMU-KVM, libvmi and libvirt stuff.
Libvmi uses libvirt.
I am trying to to run process-list example of libvmi and getting error as
below. It seems that this error may be due to libvirt as it is not able to
find domain.
I seek your kind help on below error:
