Migrate a Samba 3.0 PDC from Redhat 9 to Debian Sarge
Hi all, I have a Samba 3.0.20b installation on a Redhat 9 system running as PDC for a Windows Domain. I now would like to move the PDC funktionality to an existing Debian Sarge system running Samba 3.0.23c and then decommision the Redhat system. I did search for information on how to do this but all the information that I could find seems to deal with Samba 2.x PDCs since the MACHINE.SID file is always referenced as the critical configuration Best regards, Reiner Buehl.

I need glibc 2.19+ for 32 bit CentOS 6.8 or CentOS7
...ng specific Linux distributions. Alternately, some specific LSB release (none of which, as far as I can tell, require glibc 2.19+). To all...yes I meant glibc, not glib. Target environment -- could be any version of Linux. This is for Apache OpenOffice. The buildbots we've been using are being decommisioned due to EOL. As a developer on that project, I need to be able to test and use the builds. We'll be moving to a Ubuntu 14 environment, which is spec'd at glibc 2.19 near as I can determine. So a long story. We will not be building for targeted environments. Write after I wrote this, I th...

FreeBSD - Secure by DEFAULT ?? [hosts.allow]
Hi, I need to know what the implications are to make use of the hosts.allow file on a FreeBSD Production Server (ISP Setup)? The reason I'm asking, is that I've recently decommisioned a Linux SendMail Server to a FreeBSD Exim Server, but with no Firewall (IPTABLES) yet. Besides the fact that it only runs EXIM and Apache, is it necessary to Configure rc.Firewall? or can I only make use of the hosts.allow file? Currently I would only like to allow SSH access from my Home Netwo...

Samba 4.2 AD member accesible by name but not by IP
Well, this is the most complicated part. I have Samba 4.2 AD DC with samba internal DNS and Server 2003 AD DC which should be decommisioned soon. Everything worked for several months. The odd part is that suddenly Server 2003 DNS lost all its zones and Samba 4.2 was the only reliably working DC. I seized FSMO roles after forcibly decomissioned Server 2003. I'm not sure that everything in my Samba AD DC is fine since I get weird...

old, deleted LUN still showing up after a virsh pool-refresh
Today I upgraded one of our KVM physical host servers to Centos 5.6. The other server remains on Centos 5.5. I've configured a storage pool in libvirt to use LUNs from an iscsi storage system as the volumes for each VM. After the upgrade, I decommisioned one of the VMs and removed the LUN from the storage system. Normally after this kind of operation, I simply need to run this command and the server will see that the LUN no longer exists and remove the volume. # virsh pool-refresh --pool=dev-kvm-storage Pool dev-kvm-storage refreshed This w...

Promote samba-3 BDC to PDC
Hi, We have an old domain with a samba-3 PDC and LDAP backend in our HQ and two BDC in our branch offices. Since we don't use the domain in our HQ anymore and one of the branches will be moved to our new domain (2003/2008) I'm thinking about decomissioning the PDC and promote both BDCs as PDC for their branch offices and networks. I would also get rid of LDAP. Changing the backend to

I need glibc 2.19+ for 32 bit CentOS 6.8 or CentOS7
Hello all-- Due to a proposed changeover to build machines for a project I'm involved with, I need at least glib 2.19. Right now I have glib 2.12, and even on CentOS7-32 bit, what I see is glib 2.14. Is a higher glib available anywhere that might work with my current 6.8. I see I can download it from SourceForge but I am wondering what the results might me. I really like CentOS and would
