VPN bridge to LAN, through Firewall
Hi, thanks for a great piece of software!
...at the moment I have a commercial VPN box, which
also acts as our firewall. I wish to replace this
firewall functionality with a decicated Shorewall
firewall, and use the VPN box only for VPN traffic.
At the moment, this VPN/Firewall box is at an internet
visible address, x.x.x.85
I wish to make the new Shorewall fireall x.x.x.85 and
move the VPN to

Setting up PDC with PAM
...ntation says that you can't
have encrypted passwords enabled!
So does that mean that I can't set up Samba has a PDC and use PAM to
authenticate the users!
Reason I ask is I did have Samba set up as a PDC with 3 windows client
computers, 2 with Windows 2000, one with Windows XP!
I then deciced to try and use PAM so I went into the registry of the 3
clients and set it to enableplaintextpasswords = 1
And I set Samba to plain text passwords and to obey pam restrictions!
Pam now works Ie if I change the password with smbpasswd the unix
password is changed as well!
But the problem I'...

Samba SSSD authentication via userPrincipalName does not work because samba claims that the username does not exist.
...'m investigating the issue that I can't authenticate against a Samba (as Active-Directory Member) using the userPrincipalName (UPN). (Using Samba and sAMAccountName works fine.)
After some research I'm quite sure that winbind is limited to the sAMAccountName and can't use UPN. So I deciced to use SSSD and configured the `ldap_user_name = userPrincipalName` in the sssd.conf
Example:
* sAMAccountName: timfin01
* userPrincipalName: tim.finnigan
"getent passwd tim.finnigan" works, i.e. returns "tim.finnigan:*:1238402723:1238400513:Tim Finnigan:/home/tim.finnigan at ad....

Font size R
Hi everyone.
I'm using this following code:
pdf(file="Fig5.pdf", width = 4.86, height = 6.29, pointsize = 10, family
='Times')
par(mfcol = c(3,2), mai = c(0.4,0.8,0,0), omi = c(0.7, 0, 0.7, 0.1));
hist( rnorm(100) )
dev.off()
When I open this in any vectorial software (like Illustrator), it says that
my font size is 7 instead of 10 that I specified.
I have tried

Re: Bug#390862: -bigmem version of xen kernels is really needed
What about idea not to *add* pae versions of xen kernels, but to *replace*
non-pae versions with pae versions?
Rationale:
- not increase in archive size or linux-2.6 package build time,
- this will improve compatimility with other distros (consider scenario
when running FC or RHEL in domU; these distros do ship only pae xen
kernels, according to

XP Pro client cannot access stand-alone linux samba server
Hi, I am trying to set up my internet connection sharing linux box as a
stand-alone samba server. When i try to access the server from a
Windows XP Pro client using \\192.168.0.1 i get a dialog box asking for
a username and password. I duly enter this and the dialog box
immediately re-appears without connecting me to the share. There exists
both a samba and linux account with the same

[PATCH drm-misc-next v8 01/12] drm: manager to keep track of GPUs VA mappings
Add infrastructure to keep track of GPU virtual address (VA) mappings
with a decicated VA space manager implementation.
New UAPIs, motivated by Vulkan sparse memory bindings graphics drivers
start implementing, allow userspace applications to request multiple and
arbitrary GPU VA mappings of buffer objects. The DRM GPU VA manager is
intended to serve the following purposes in this context.

Do we need a new name for "--test"?
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/2476
This does seem to confuse a fair few new users.
What would be a better name for "--test"?
