Getting started with Xen
Hi List, Being very new to Xen I have a few generic questions for the list, I hope to grab some useful advice and pointers to documentation. I am evaluating Xen to consolidate a few existing servers into one appliance (mainly in order to reduce power consumption, heat, and hardware failure risks). I plan to have a SER router, an Asterisk LCR router, a voicemail server, a calling card server

Python dependency in packages?
I apologize if this isn't the correct destination for these errors, but I tried installing xen on my ubuntu (breezy badger) system via: deb-src http://packages.debianbase.de/sources/xen3 ./ and then tried building locally via apt-get source xen. The only problem appears to be the explicit python2.3 dependency in : debian/rules debian/libxen-python.install a simple s/python2.3/python2.4/ in both of these files let me build without incident ( dpkg-buildpackage -...

Xen for Sarge && amd64
I am using the "tha" Xen packages from http://packages.debianbase.de/sarge/amd64/xen3/ However, I noticed that some new packages have been uploaded into the NEW queue. What I am wondering is if/when/where the Sarge packages will be made available. If there is no current plan to make them available, I would be happy to help in any way that I can. -Roberto...

Xen 3.0.4
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I read in a message of december that packages of Xen 3.0.4 are expected in experimental by the end of Jan. Actually I didn't find anything in experimental. Since all my tries to create a kernel with xen 3.0.4 failed miserably with compiler errors. I had success only with the utilities packages, but I'm not even sure that they work. Is there

dev86/vmxloader for debian
Hi all I have built a preliminary debian package for dev86, required to build xen with vmx support. you can get my packages here: http://debian.nsp.co.nz/dev86. I have also trivially patched the rules for xen 3 to build the vmxloader and include it in the resulting packages, my builds/sources for these packages are here: http://debian.nsp.co.nz/xen3/. I''m working with debian-mentors

xmexample.vmx and vmxloader
Hi all, I wonder where I can find that file mentioned in xmexample.vmx: kernel = "/usr/lib/xen/boot/vmxloader" I currently use debian from http://packages.debianbase.de/sarge/i386/xen3/, but this file is not included. Xen3: Network becomes unreachable under load
Hello, we have the problem: We run 7 blades with a xen 3.0.1tha3 configuration (with the patches for debian from debianbase.de), which a is xenisied 2.6.12.6-kernel. Everything runs fine until we start producing heavy load on the network (e.g. multiple clients access our maxdb database), the dom0 and the domU network becomes unreachable (i.e. only every 100th-200th ping gets through). The dom0 network is a stand...

debian xen packages : work with 2.6.16, reboots when loading dom0 with 2.6.17
...me think it was *maybe* a version mismatch between the hypervisor and the dom0 ; but it sounds dubious, since the hypervisor seems very recent, and works with an older kernel. Does this issue ring a bell ? As a side question -- I saw a PAE hypervisor package ; are there PAE dom0 images too ? Xen on USB Key
Hi list, Here is the idea. I am running a domU out of a partition on a USB drive. I use the other partition to store the domU state. Then I carry this USB key to my office and restore the VM at the point where I left it. Thus I am trying to use xen''s virtualization to carry my desktop on a USB key. I have put up a web page explaining the details and a script to prepare the USB key.

After some days of trying with binary distribution of xen, I found a debian sarge backport at http://packages.debianbase.de/sarge/i386/xen3, and this is the one I have installed. I have compiled my dom0''s custom kernel (I had to do it because the "standard" one doesn''t boot in my dell poweredge 750). how to package hypervisor-pae?
Hi, I have just looked at the xen source, because I want to finish my work from yesterday and have the hypervisor-pae really build & packaged. It seems so that we have two possibilities to do this: 1) create another dpatch that would patch xen/Makefile in order to have other filenames for the hypervisor when the pae-flag is set. the advanced would be, that if we use diffrent filenames
