UNSEEN flag issues with multiple clients
...a per-client basis?
Or if there's even some way to turn it off so that both my iPhone mail
client and my main emacs viewmail mail client don't stomp over each
other when looking at my mail folder counts of unread messages.
My mail server is running Debian 9.11, which has dovecot
2.2.27-3+deb9u5 as the version. I'm only running IMAP, no POP at
all.
Thanks,
John

DNS question
Dear list,
we use debian stretch with Louis's 4.10.5 packages and bind9_dlz
backend. There are two AD DCs with redundant ISC DHCP servers on them.
The DHCP servers are updating the DNS along the lines of
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_DHCP_to_update_DNS_records_with_BIND9
but with nsupdate commands replaced by suitable calls to "samba-tool" (I
had problems getting the

I've summerized a bit..
And i saw Rowland also answered already.
Below is anonimized, but it shows, 2 completely different server setups.
I really suggest you setup your AD-DC's the same.
To summ up.
DC1
Samba is running as an AD DC but 'winbindd' is NOT running.
You running SSSD on the AD-DC, which is not supported.
Your using a really out-dated OS..

A SELECT INBOX updates \Seen flags, A EXAMINE INBOX does not.
there is no configurable value to change the behaviour. Maybe you can change your client to use EXAMINE instead of SELECT.

Hi Dovecot maintainers,
After upgrading from the latest stretch version of dovecot-core
(2.2.27-3+deb9u5) to buster (2.3.4.1-5+deb10u1) the "mail filter"
interface seems to have broken. This problem is also present in the sid
version (2.3.7.2-1).
Mail filter is used to run the content of messages being stored or
retrieved through an arbitrary process. The interface used for the

Using Access Control Lists with SMB2/SMB3 Mounts on Linux Clients
Hi Jeremy, Hi Steve, Hi Ronnie,
thanks for your replies and the profound discussion.
I think, it's best to demonstrate my problem case along an real world example:
The following log of a console sesssion shows how I am doing the mounts on behalf Linux Kernel CIFS-FS Module on the
client side against a Samba 4.5 file server (both running on Debian Stretch 9.8) via SMB/CIFS resp. SMB2 protocol:
