Can't configure GDM after update to CentOS 7.6
...terday. First
things first.
I have a custom configuration of GDM, which consists mainly of two things.
1. Display my company's logo instead of the CentOS logo.
2. Disable the user list (since I have about 100 users here).
Until CentOS 7.5, here's what I did.
1. Create a file /etc/dconf/profile/gdm :
user-db:user
system-db:gdm
file-db:/usr/share/gdm/greeter-dconf-defaults
2. Create a file /etc/dconf/db/gdm.d/01-logo :
[org/gnome/login-screen]
logo='/usr/share/pixmaps/microlinux-logo.png'
3. Create a file /etc/dconf/db/gdm.d/00-login-screen :

What is the proper place for GDM related dconf settings now?
Hello,
It seems that with CentOS 7.6 and Gnome 3.28, a clean install of a
Workstation package profile does not build the /etc/dconf/db/gdm.d/
directory tree. I have several desktops in operation which we
kickstart built with an older 7.3/4/5 version of CentOS as the base
install media. These all have a dconf directory for gdm, and I assume
a dconf profile directory for gdm as well (though I admit it always
worked so I never c...

There is no 'dconf' executable in CentOS6, at least, not in the
standard repos. Are you thinking about gconf-tool?
I don't see a...

This is a known issue - see:
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3599341
You will need some sort of Redhat support account to see the above page
- but the 'Resolution' given is:

Okay, got the "disable touchpad while typing" thingy working.
Here's what I did:
Install dconf-editor if you haven't already.
Then, from a console (not as su), run:
dconf write /org/gnome/desktop/peripherals/touchpad/disable-while-typing
true
This seems to have worked for me.
Good luck,

Anyone know how to do $SUBJECT? I've tried running both gnome-control-

Recommended Configuration Control Software?
We have several dozen production Linux servers and I would like to
have better control over what files are changed, by whom, when they
were changed, etc. Because these are all production servers that are
in use 24x7, we do not have the luxury of simply doing a clean build,
taking md5sums of each file, and then doing fresh installations. I
need a system that can take in-place snapshots of each

C7 Desktop background
Hi
Just stumbled into a problem with my recent new build C7 work station.
Fully updated, gnome desktop, all was working well until I had a play
with Tweak Tool, I wanted to try some other themes for window layouts as
the default seems to not show check boxes correctly in all situations. I
haven't yet determined what is causing this but suspected another theme
may work better, as not being

[PATCH 0/4] Add customization capabilities to virt-sysprep
...lement another customization: setting the
login screen background image.
When I actually started investigating how to do this, I realized it is
fearsomely complicated because basically every guest type has its own
method to do this, and they even change frequently between versions
(eg. gconf -> dconf, GNOME vs KDE etc). Since the --firstboot
parameter effectively gives this capability to system administrators
(albeit they need to work out how to do it themselves), I think it may
be a good idea to invest the time making sure --firstboot is
bullet-proof, and *not* implement specific customizatio...

CentOS 7 turn off power saving by command line
In CentOS 6 gconftool-2 (command line) is used to enable/disable items.
In CentOS 7 I found "settings->power-> blank screen" as something I
wish to configure by the command line?
How is that accomplished?
I brought up gconf-editor and searched for power and blank and found
nothing.
How can I control this setting from the command line?
Thanks
