problem with machine "freezing" for short periods
I have two HP dc7800 convertible minitowers that are exhibiting the
following issue: every 5-10 minutes, they will "freeze" for about 30
seconds, and then pick right back up again. During the freeze, it seems
that nothing at all happens on the system; the clock doesn't even advance
(it just picks up again...

Adding memdisk or similar when booting linux
...o!
I now have a custom boot menu for install of different linux versions based if they have been installed before (reinstall is ok for users, first install is not), and installquirks like if we detect odd hardware, we add install options to redhat installer so it can install anyhow (for instance hp dc7800 who needs pci=nommconf as kernel append for booting).
But now I need to add a driver disk to my install enviroment, and when thinking about it, the nice method would be having syslinux create a memdisk which linux could see when starting install, and load its drivers from there. The reason i need...

Intel VT-d Support
Hello all,
please tell me, how can I be sure that
my Xen installation is built with Intel VT-d support?
Something like
xm info | grep -i KEY-REGULAR-EXPRESSION
xm dmesg | grep -i KEY-REGULAR-EXPRESSION
What line I should look for?
And if it''s really built with it,
how can I be sure, that Xen has successfully
initialized VT-d hardware?
I have read [1] and the lists archives

MMCFG Problem
...n). Actually,
the extended PCIe capability space doesn''t show up
at all for any device.
This seems to be related to a failure to initialise mmconfig.
I''m running the latest xen-unstable.hg tree with 2.6.18.8
(although I have tried various other kernels too). The machine
is an HP dc7800 running in x86_64 mode. In the logs I am seeing:

[PATCH 00 of 17] Documentation updates
The following series flushes my documentation queue and replaces
previous postings of those patches.
The main difference is that the xl cfg file is now formatted using POD
instead of markdown and presented as a manpage.
I have setup a cron job to build docs/html and publish it at
http://xenbits.xen.org/docs/unstable/ (it''s a bit bare right now).
The motivation for some of these patches
