unexplained Replication failures...?
Hi all,
I'm running in circles trying to debug replication failures on samba
4.7.6:
dc00 : is a VM on KVM host (attached to a bridge on local LAN)
dc01 : is a similarly configured VM on another KVM host.
I've forcibly demoted and re-promoted dc01 but I still cannot get
automatic replication to work:
root at dc00 ~]# samba-tool drs showrepl

unexplained Replication failures...?
Hi Denis,
Thanks for taking the time to answer.
Yes, I may have been wrong with --forced-sync and --full-sync since the
start but in fact I wanted to make sure to force replication between the
servers.
Here is what I have noticed:
- replication works from dc00 -> dc00 but not from dc01 -> dc00:
[root at dc00 ~]# samba-tool drs replicate DC01 DC00
dc=ad,dc=lasthome,dc=solace,dc=krynn --sync-forced --full-sync
Replicate from DC00 to DC01 was successful.
[root at dc00 ~]# samba-tool drs replicate DC00 DC01

IP aliases of DCs to prevent DNS timeouts
Hi All,
In my environment, I have a total of 4 DCs (Samba 4.7.6) running in VMs.
Their uptime schedule goes like this:
dc00 : usually 100% unless there's a failure.
dc01 : same as above
dc02 : a few days per week.
dc03 : a few days per month.
This has the consequence that a DNS A lookup on the AD domain shows 4 IPs,
2 of which are usually not up.
Because I don't have shared storage in this setup and since all...

4.2.2 as AD with 2 DCs: database incoherency
Hi all,
I'm having a test AD domain composed with 2 DC, using Sernet's version of
Samba 4.2.2.
These two DC are Centos 6.6 (dc20) and Debian 7.8 (dc00).
These two are using TDB as a backend (as we have no other choice at this
stage of Samba's development).

On my two-DC setup (dc00 and dc01 - Used to be a 4-Dc setup but 02 and 03

Hi all,
I tried "samba-tool ldapcmp" several times to solve this issue, without

cutting corners (4.10.2 on el7.6)
Hi Garming,
Thanks for taking the time to enlighten me. I do happen to have two DC's
and in my limited testing, 4.10.2 seems to function properly as an AD/DC
on el7.6 with the packages I built. As I'm not using those DC's for file
serving in a clustered setup, it is also my interpretation that I can do
without ctdb (this one had a specific requirement for a higher version of
