Old HP Xeon server blade with only SCSI HDD ports & CentOS
...server blade Manual http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12322_ca/12322_ca.pdf Now, the main problem with this hardware is that LVD UW SCSI HDDs are hard to find and hella expensive if you find em (and of reduced capacity). Any of you know: 1. If there's any third party maker of any daughtercard offering SATA ports? The main board of the system has daughtercard sockets allowing for instance SFP ports http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_form-factor_pluggable_transceiver Seems to me that there'd be a small but interesting niche for this kind of adapter. 2. If it's possible to use Boo...

[stable 9]Dell R620 Ethernet Ordering
I'm trying to understand the newbus and acpi interactions on this Dell R620 that result in the Broadcom adapter board being probed "backwards" or just plain out of order in comparison to the connector layout and the linux tg3 driver. We seem to be detecting PCI0:2:0 before PCI0:1:0. This seems odd to me. When I replace the broadcom daughter card with an intel daughter card, this

Noise on FXS ports (Sangoma)
...plugged in at the demarcation point. No noise. (None of the SIP devices in this configuration have this noise for outgoing calls, so I'm sure it's got something to do with the FXS module). - Plugged the known good analog sets straight into the server - Moved the FXS module off the REMORA daughtercard to the main card - Replaced the FXS module with a new one - Run the server off of battery power, to see if the noise is garbage leaking in off the AC - Turned off the PoE midspan The next thing I'm going to try is turning off the switch it's plugged into. When that is done, I'll hav...

My Sangoma Experience in Asterisk: Followup
...expected: For our production environment a 30-50% reduced system load leading to higher capacity on the server than was possible with the Digium TE405P board. Another piece of news that came out in the last month was that Digium will be shipping the TE406p in May 2005(a 405 with an echo-canceller daughtercard that will retail for $2,195). I would very much like to get my hands on one of these to test it's performance against the Sangoma A104 to see what kind of impact off-loading the echo-canceller and DTMF detection really has for one of these cards. In the last month I have learned a little more...

Dial to Answer -- Can this be done?
Let's suppose you have a PSTN line with multiple extensions. One of these extensions is connected to an Asterisk FXO port. For reasons that I won't go into, the "normal" configuration of the system is that when a call comes in on the PSTN line, Asterisk *does not answer* -- the other extensions do whatever they would do if there were no Asterisk system there. When I hear one

Yep - but how is that a benefit if your stuff works? NVidia is fabless i.e. and you surely don't want to tell me they aren't good at what they do... Having your own fab or not has very little influence... >Sun even >sells Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER products o...

Hot swap CPU
From: Rodrigo Barbosa <rodrigob at suespammers.org> > Btw, don't quote me on this one :) > I'm only 90% sure of the hotswapping capabilities, and less than 50% > sure about the price :) There _are_ systems with hot-swap CPUs, memory and/or, PCI[-X] slots. They are _not_ commodity and pricey, and require OS-level support. In fact, I believe Linux 2.6 has some support for
