(slightly OT) Reporting tools (Jasper, DataVision, etc.)
...hatever report writer we
choose, we think, so we don''t expect anything to be fully integrated
with Ruby or Rails ... we just want to start with a good base.
So, is Jasper the best? Are there others that look good? Here''s a short
list I''ve compiled:
* iReport/Jasper
* DataVision
* OpenRPT (only works with PosgreSQL currently)
There are others, but I haven''t found any others that work on Mac OS X
and have a designer tool that looks like an end user could learn to use
in relatively little time.
Thanks!

Billing Fun - anybody know where to get a NPA/NXX db?
Hello;
I've been playing with a nifty Open Source java based report writer
called Datavision (datavision.sourceforge.net) and I've managed to write
enough logic to calculate phone bills at different rates from the MySQL
cdr's. (cdr_addon_mysql) Eventually I want to have sets of rate
structures for each user of the system - so I can bill client A at 3
cents a minute and client B at...

Rails with ireport
Hi all, since there isn''t good reporting for rails, I''m thinking to use
jasper report instead. Can anyone tell me how can I integrated them
together? especially how can I pass parameter from rails to jasper report.

Flash Paper / Paginated Reports
Hi all,
I''d like to output some nicely formatted reports in a rails app. I''ve
done a bit of research, found the jasperreports bridge (java eeeww), and
datavision bridge (not quiet what I was after).
I guess has anyone else found any great tools / utils to either do
something like flash paper or perhaps something else to generate
paginated / print friendly reports?
If not I''ll be turning to generating custom PDF''s for output..
Many tha...

PDF views?
I know there''s wiki page on generating PDF[*], but that''s not really
what I want. I don''t need to create arbitrary PDF. What I''d like to do
is create PDF templates and fill in the blanks. Roughly, I''m looking
for functionality akin to the mail merge feature of word processors,
including conditional and repeated elements, say, table rows.
