Disappearing x axis in plot.factor (PR#830)
Hi.
While there is an x-axis set up for:
> plot.factor(factor(1:3))
this axis is not present for
> plot.factor(factor(1:3), col="red")
which actually should just be the same as the first plot and call
barplot(table(.)), shouldn't it? Where did the ticks and labels go?
Note that
> barplot (table(factor(1:3)), col="red")
has the x-axis.
Something funky is going

densityplot and panel.groups
...yplot(~x | class,groups=group,
xlab='x',
panel.groups = function(x,subscripts,groups,panel.number,...) {
panel.densityplot(x=x,subscripts=subscripts,groups=groups,...)
# other stuff here
},
plot.points=FALSE,
layout=c(3,1),
data=thedata)
But get an "Error in panel.superpose(x, darg = darg, plot.points =
plot.points, ref = FALSE, : formal argument "panel.groups" matched
by multiple actual arguments" using R 2.3.1 (MacOS X 10.4.7), I think
this worked with a previous version of R.

Shading area under PDF of t -distribution
Dear R experts,
I have plot the PDF of t distribution with df = 74.
curve(dt(x,df=74),from=-4, to=4)
how can I shade the area under curve (for example, col="red") from t=+- 1.996?
Thank you.
Regards,
CH

histogram
Dear R gurus...
How do I control "smoothing" of a density plot in panel.densityplot when
using histogram?
Thanks much,

rsync breaks suddenly while syncing
Hello,
since two weeks I got problems with my rysnc. I wrote a script to sync
our ftp-server. Everything was working fine. Yet am getting errors like
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (130353504 bytes received so far) [receiver]
rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4092 bytes: phase "unknown" [generator]: Connection reset by peer (104)

Does "sink" stand for anything?
Hello Everyone,
Learning about R and its wonderful array of functions. If it's not obvious, I usually try to find out what a function stands for. I think this helps me remember better.
One function that has me stumped is "sink." Can anyone tell me if this stands for something?
Thanks,
Paul

rsync breaks suddenly
Hi,
I am trying to mirror a suse part with rsync -tvvvvvvrl
--delete-excluded --stats --progress --exclude i386/9.1-personal-iso/
--exclude i386/live*/
ftp.gwdg.de::pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/
/var/ftp/pub/suse/i386 2&> rsync.log
Randomly it hangs and after about 15 minutes I am getting an error. I've
copied the last lines of my log:
