ices bitrate encoding mode?
I have got ices running with quality -1 (and on my roommates crappy computer
speakers it sounds damn near the real thing - better than FM radio anyway)...
I'm just wondering if it's posible to configure it with a maximum bitrate, or
a nominal bitrate. i.e. to use managed bitrates instead of quality (I know
it's a no no, but this is streaming!).

Ices2 compile error - streaming ogg!
Actually, you don't have to check out ogg and vorbis from CVS. You can
just use Vorbis 1.0, if you like. ices was updated to use the Vorbis
1.0 encoding API, and that is the source of the errors the original
poster was seing.

You need to check out ogg and vorbis from cvs and install them as well. Refer
to the following previous mailling list post for info on what to do:

Ices2 compile error - streaming ogg!
Still trying to stream ogg and have not gotten past a make error in
ices2. We www.freespeech.org are an independent media / news
site so it would be nice to get this running
and support this new format. I'd love to convert all of our 700
streaming video files from from realmedia as well but thats another
story!
Perhaps this is not the correct forum but it seems like there

State of IceCast2?
Hi -
I'm currently researching possible implementations of a streaming Ogg server for use with DarkIce to reencode live radio traffic for streaming simulcast. DarkIce claims support for IceCast2, which supports streaming Ogg-vorbis media. The only sticking point I'm running into -- it's been damned near impossible to find anything more than mere scraps of information about the state
