Groups not mapping correctly.
Hello, At one time I installed an alpha of samba-3.0 and it had a smbgroupedit command that mapped unix and windows groups via webmin. This seems to be missing in beta3, has it been depreciated? Also I can't seem to get the group map to take effect unless the unix group is the users primary group. Either that or I don't understand something. I do not have winbindd running or any idmap

Samba and winbind with LDAP IDMAP backend - user connects with Domain Admin permissions
Hi, Please Help! My normal users are able to gain access to all home directories even though the group owner is Domain Admins. I have set the permissions to 770 while testing and the group to Domain Admin on all directories. I have a Server2003 AD Domain with a clustered RHEL5 samba server for the home directory. I am using samba 3.0.23 with Winbind and LDAP idmap backend. This server is

Problems with groups using samba + ldap
Hi, I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 with samba 3.028a (ubuntu package) +LDAP and I'm getting an odd problem. I have a user and this user had 4 groups (1 principal and 3 complementary) if I run id <user> in the console of samba server the command returns 4 groups (so LDAP is working fine). But when I'm trying to access a samba share (with log level 5), I noticed that samba returns that

Hi Andrew, I can't shutdown the old samba box as it will still be hosting the shares. Can I do any of the following? Would it make sense for me to migrate the backend to LDAP ? Or following your first comment, can I setup rysnc every 5 minutes to replicate data. You're right it is a migration path but I can't migrate until this works in the test environment Thank you RT On Wed,

Samba Dropouts...
OK, I have been banging my head into the wall on this now for two or more weeks We have a samba server (2.2.8 then 2.2.8a) running on top of a 320 GB raid ATA-raid array with a FastTrack controller. Both the server and workstations are running through Gigabit NIC's. Every five or so minutes the workstations loose communications with the server, Then it takes 10-15 seconds for the

Louis, Please find the o/p below. Have a question, I read somewhere that using hostname lookups = yes in smb.conf helps with this. Is that correct? We followed the samba wiki to setup the DNS. Hostname: winad01 DNS Domain: addom.com FQDN: winad01.addom.com ipaddress: 10.10.10.10 ----------- Samba is running as an AD DC ----------- Checking file: /etc/os-release
