I am receiving this error randomly when using smbclient to access pc shares : FINDFIRST gave ERRSRV - (Non-specific error code.) I use smbclient with Amanda to backup pc shares. For amanda to work, it uses smbclient to recursively scan through the entire directory tree and get total MB size of each directory. The problem is that when trying to enter some directories it gives the above error and

intermittent slow connection smb domain controller
hi im running a network of around 25 win98 clients off a smb 2.7 domain controller. every couple of days we experience a period of very slow connection speed - accessing network shares and mail etc. the logs on the domain controller produce the following error message during these times. kernel: eth0: Too much work at interrupt, IntrStatus=0x0010. Im thinking perhaps i need a backup domain

permission problems win xp
hi guys, i am running samba 2.2.8 as a PDC with about 30 xp clients. i upgraded the clients to xp about a month ago and since then i have experienced problems with 2 users permissions. if they access and save any file it is rewritten with 700 permission from 750. it doesnt seem client based as if they log on from any machine they have the same effect. hope someone has some thoughts shaun
